Look, I don't think Winks is Modric or anything, but already you can see a difference in the dynamics of the midfield with a player like Winks in there, he's constantly moving, and looking to give, go, get and go again, as opposed to give, stand, and ponder.

He's the positive central midfielder we need, always looking to drive forward and pass forward.

Kanes a selfish bastard. He should have let Winks take that.

I had a pound on Winks for first scorer.

Ticking a lot of boxes in fairness to the lad.

Assuming he stays fit, I can't see why he wouldn't be included in England's next two friendlies against Germany and Brazil - what a chance for the lad to test himself against quality opposition.

England's forward options are so poor (in a footballing sense) right now with Lallana out (Rashford, Linguard, Alli, OC etc) I'd be very tempted to play a 3CM system with Winks and Wilshire/Carroll either side of a holder (Henderson/Dier) because there's no brains, control or composure coming from the front group. Just have Sterling and Rashford as wide forwards either side of Kane.

Winks has had a great first 35 minutes. He's played some nice passes, some great runs into space, and he always keeps the ball moving. No fear at all.

To be fair, this is a level down from what he usually plays so he shouldn't have much to fear.

His mentality impresses me too. He's not played a huge amount of competitive football so far this season, is only just finding form post injury, yet has already had an assured and positive England first half. He's not hidden away either, winning the ball back etc. Positive.

Nice first half from Dele. Looking a lot sharper than he has recently and his touch is good as well as his movement
