England lol

-----------sturridge

Sterling---Rooney---welbeck

------Gerrard- troll face

The forwards are now in portions they're all comfortable with. Coutinho played in the hole for Liverpool not sterling.

Wayne Rooney scored 17 goals and made 10 assists in 29 league games for the worst united team in prem history both in performance and the players around him. I'd say he's far from past it or shit. I mean he's no Harry Kane but who is ;)

Unfortunately for England the midfield is weak who ever you put in there an the back line is more dodgey than ours, least we have Hugo

That's the team I expect to start. Same eleven with Sterling right, Welbeck left and Rooney in the number ten spot.

Hart
Johnson Jag Cahill Baines
Henderson Milner
Sterling Sturridge Lallana
Rooney

I'd be tempted to try this with Milner being given the responsibility to help defend the Left flank and cross early from deep

I'm not saying your wrong but Hodgson would get slaughtered if he picked Milner. The abuse he got for picking Welbeck was bad enough.

england squad is so talented right now, the young crop actually make me want to support them. will hopefully phase out all of the "golden generation" after this world cup and give the next two tournaments a real go with the youth, there's so many options in midfield and attack that it's difficult to only pick six. could do with a few defenders coming through though, hopefully have walker and shaw as full backs, cahill will still be at his peak and then maybe stones if he progresses as expected.

It's better than it's been for a while but we still need a few players who can pass the ball.

We can't always rely on counter attacking.

Totally agree.

The sooner the golden generation is fizzled out the better.

I'd love to see Woy out with them to. A younger coach coming in who can mould these exciting young talents into an exciting team...and leave the pressure of fitting in big egos, to the detriment of the team - balance wise, long gone.

The likes of Wilshere, the horrible little git lol, can. We could do with more but we need to include these kids - like Ward Prowse.

After this world cup we should be looking to get rid of Woy and the golden generation. Bring in a younger coach who's more with it in terms of how football has evolved now and picks squads accordingly.

I'm strangely fascinated by this game. Have no idea what to expect.

*oops, this was meant for WC daily thread.

The ironic thing is the golden generation are still holding us back at the moment imo

Which is why alot of the youth watchers don't want Woy in charge. As I said for a while there is a very talented group coming and some might be from our club. However we need a progressive coach with a good sense of developing youth and playing good football.

There are two british managers that come under that for me, Steve McLaren and Brendon Rodgers. Its not going to be the first one because he got knocked out of the groups by two quarter finalists of the euros.

I think leaving Cole out is going to look like a huge mistake. Baines isn't fit to lace his boots. He's old but he's still world class.

Roy should have gone for Cole and Shaw.
