And we laughed at the prospect of signing him not so long ago

When you see how a player improves and develops with constant first-team football and more responsibility, I just wish our fans would consider some of the hatred directed to Mason in the context of what Shelvey looks like after a few seasons at Swansea.

Have to say I've changed my mind on Shelvey. I think he has that extra something about him.

He's a very good player on his day certainly.

He's just incredibly random at other times and his losses of concentration could cause England problems at times. I think, like Mason, he's better further forwards and when you ask them to take on that extra sitting responsibility then they can be exposed.

Both Shelvey and Barkley are good options for England though. Just not sure they are a great partnership.

This is soooo boring o_O

Why are England such a wet blanket team? Yeah, qualifiers, i get that it's not the most urgent thing on their plates, but jesus, it's been this way for more than a decade regardless of how high profile the match is.

Boring, boring England.

Mate, that would mean they'd need to start thinking for themselves...

There isn't that much "hatred" aimed at Mason is there?

I see Hodgson has again proved himself to be an utter tool by not selecting Dier. Also looks like Rose will never get a chance under him

Just as well. Why anyone would want our players to go off on England duty in the season and be coached by him is beyond me.

Also, Rose isnt even playing much at all right now. Why would you even think he'd be selected? Blaming Hodgson for not selecting him in the squad is ridiculous. Blame Poch for not playing him causing Rose to miss a chance at England.

Well that argument doesn't hold out since Rose has played more games than Bertrand (albeit by 1), yet Bertrand's been called up.

He's also played more minutes than Gibbs this season too, despite Gibbs having played something like 5 games
