2.5 year deal so no issue there
Solanke was sold pre-covid, Willock was an in demand young player. Dele is 25, has been well below par for years and nobody has wanted to buy him. If we'd held out for £20mil+ we'd just have paid his salary until 2024 when he left for free. Simple as thatJoe Willock and Dominic Solanke have been going for more than £20m. Dele hasn't worked out here over the last couple seasons but he's HG, experienced at the higest level, and in the right setup could still be a very good Prem player. He's also incredibly well-known and marketable.
Anyone arguing that free + £10m is even vaguely acceptable is deluding themselves I think.
Come on now, none of us are privvy to knowing what our budget is and the fundamental point in selling a player like Dele is going to be the wages saved.Because it could impact our spending budget?
Not my thinking, but as others have said there is the possibility, in theory, that Dele could play those 18 games for Everton and then be sold by Everton for (eg) £20m in the summer. They wouldn't then have to pay us a penny, and would have had 6 months of football and make a nice little profit. Will Everton not be playing any games beyond this season then?
there we go, now chill.
there we go, now chill.
It would be trivially easy to add a clause to the contract entitling us to the proceeds if he were to be sold before triggering the fee. Tweets from journos will not include all of the relevant terms of the deal.Ok so he plays say 16 games this season, then Everton have opportunity to sell him in summer?
Absolutely no way Levy signs that deal off.
I mean 10m is like an upper level championship player considering age and whatnot. Obvs we don't know the details but absolutely a strange fee. Look at lingard for example, Stock was low, went out on loan now Man utdare asking more than 10m just to loan him out.Personally think we've been lucky to get 10mil for Dele if it's true. He hasn't performed anywhere near a 10mil player if people want to be honest. 10mil and is wage gone and a hp space opened is decent but that's just my feeling.
I'm not talking about Dele, that was not the question that was posed. So would spending millions on wages for him to sit there with Conte not putting him in a squad, because nobody would give us the £30m or whatever it might be. He's only worth what someone will pay, and the rest of the time, it's money directly down the pan as he wouldn't have been played, isn't it?
Boris? Is that you?Someone give me an update, been in a meeting.
We’re not going to allow for that sort of situation are we?Not my thinking, but as others have said there is the possibility, in theory, that Dele could play those 18 games for Everton and then be sold by Everton for (eg) £20m in the summer. They wouldn't then have to pay us a penny, and would have had 6 months of football and make a nice little profit.
In reality, that's not going to happen.
