Bit hard to buy Renato outside the window, no? CB conversion an ambitious project if we can get the purchase done though.

That is rather bloody tasty!

Could also have Davies at left centre back to provide natural balance.

The squad as I see it, Sessegnon and Tanganga need to push on and replace Doherty and Davies who I’ve put with the academy prospects.

The second 11 will hopefully develop with conference league football

Glaring hole where Clarke is in the 22, we should have signed a striker or winger

Surely Scarlett plays over Clarke and Moura plays RW in these lineups.

If Levy has put the kaibosh on Traore or another up front player, given
Still available strikers:

Hal Robson-Kanu
Fernando Llorente
Mario Mandzukic
Papiss Cisse
Connor Wickham

..
Think I would rather see Scarlett getting game time over all these, with the exception of Mandzukic, depending on his fitness levels.

Pipe dream but just imagine if we could have got Sabitzer. ??

Him up top alongside Kane and Son we would seriously have been contenders!

With Gil running around behind them and Skipp and PEH providing the steel.

Sabitzer is a midfielder.

I think he can play across the middle and an AM but I wouldn't describe him as playing "up top". Maybe I'm wrong.

He has a man bun as well, so I could have pretended he was Bale like when I had Bale in my team on fifa 21…

Ideal would be a mix between this and the current 4-3-3.

I like right now that we’ve finally been playing Bergwijn and Lucas in their actual positions of LW and RW.

3-4-3 could be a plan B or we have two plan A’s to switch between like we did during peak Poch 4-2-3-1 & 3-4-2-1.

So we started the window with:
  • No manager
  • A chairman in control of all things footy who many were very fucking pissed off with.
  • A shockingly wobbly defense that dropped 20 points from winning positions.
  • Kane not just with a foot out the door but effectively caught trying to sneak in the back of the City team bus.
  • Big uncertainty over Son's contract and the risk we'd need to sell if he didn't extend.
  • Generally diabolical morale.
  • Finished outside of CL and EL places and in the new European Mickey-Mouse cup.
  • Meme-level laughing stock status in the press and amongst other fans due to ESL, Mourinho firing, clown-car manager hunt etc.
Where we are now:
  • Good new manager settled in, showing signs of being a brilliant coach and top bloke. Tactical prowess as yet unclear.
  • Quality DoF now in charge of all things footy, who appears to have chosen above manager.
  • Levy stumped up some cash for some big signings despite the shocking pandemic revenues for the stadium.
  • The new DoF got us linked to all sorts of top players and it completed changed the 'vibe' around the club.
  • We signed a CB from Juventus who was voted the best CB in Serie A last year.
  • We signed a RB from Barca who is very highly rated and they wouldn't have let go if it wasn't for pandemic financial issues.
  • Kane did not leave and is now happily re-integrated with the squad, while the club came out smelling of roses from a situation in which City ended up looking like twats.
  • Son signed a new contract and looks happy as ever.
  • We signed a very very very fucking exciting young left-winger from Seville who I think will be a super-star.
  • Despite distraction from the Kane saga we've won our first three games, keeping three clean sheets and are top of the Prem, while Arsenal sit bottom.
  • We beat City at home in the first match without Kane.
  • Sanchez and Dier look absolutely reborn. It's ridiculous. It's also not just three games because the preseason included games against Arsenal and Chelsea.
  • Moved on Sissoko and Aurier.
  • Signed a potential midfield star who will join next year.
  • Alli looks a lot happier than last year.
  • Skipp is now a major part of the side.
  • Morale seems excellent
  • Moura has taken his game up a notch.
  • Scarlett appears highly rated enough to be considered a first-team player. I know this last point is a bit glass half full.

As far as I'm concerned that's a good window. A lot will depend on Kane and Son staying injury free (doesn't it ever) and whether our bag of midfielders can become a quality unit who can take other sides to the cleaners rather than soaking up pressure.
