Liverpool were always going to come in for him.

By all accounts, he was a long-term target and our interest just pushed them into action earlier than expected.

Sounds to me like it depends on who you speak to - so let's not jump to conclusions about things like the entire strategy of the club which is not what the ITK can ever give light on (to an extent).

Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this. The idea that there are other names in the background that we haven't heard yet is promising, but honestly, I can't see anything coming through apart from Amrabat

We're in a very, very sticky spot, and the microscope has to be on FP - we have a genuine chance of top 4, but we'll have lost momentum coming out of this window IMO.

Thanks for the info though Trix

Glad to have some positive news from Trix. Dragon’s info will no doubt fuel the doubters but we’ve had confirmation before that he tends to be anti Levy so best to keep this in perspective. 3 days to go, let’s see what transpires.

My opinion of my employer is different to some of my colleagues. I would advise a prospective employee that they will be impressed with the benefits and its a good job.

Some of my colleagues would disagree, depending on the role they have in the organisation and therefore advise prospective employee to look elsewhere.

My guess is Dragon 1's source is very much like some of my colleagues and not me.

(Am I talking bollox or making a salient point? Leave it for you to decide).

Thanks Trix and Stoof for getting this thread back on track. Totally agree that it’s positive the intent was there on Diaz, a £40-50m bid on a player in January is genuinely massive for us. If he fancies Liverpool over us then fair play - what can we do.

On D1’s post, I’m on my knees for Raphinha, but nice to hear generally that we are targeting creativity in the team. Think we are missing that player who can make a killer pass right now either in the midfield in 352 or the Lucas slot in 343.

Still hopeful and was interesting to hear Ornstein say the other day that we were working on several targets, and that Diaz wasn’t necessarily top of that list. The Diaz deal seemed to come from nowhere so hopefully we’ve laid some groundwork elsewhere too.

The idea of Spurs having a small window to complete a deal without the blokes agents alerting Liverpool, come on.

Yeah absolutely no way we had a window to get Diaz. That's just looking for a negative slant. The agent was clearly hanging on for Liverpool. They were always coming in.

The PL based attacker is interesting. Whilst unlikely either Raphinha or Calvert-Lewin would be perfect for us.

WE bid and matched LIverpool for Diaz, Player just prefers them.

fair enough, as long as we use that money on players Conte wants to actually improve the squad in positions of need over the next few days.

If the 50m disappears again then the concerns will be completely valid.

Firstly thanks to Stoof, Rob and A&C for this it was muchly needed.

As I said unless things changed I wouldn't be posting again so glad that it has.

Late last night we had all the financials pretty much in place for Diaz, both clubs and player were happy, and only details needed to be done.

What exactly has happened since? Well I know as much as the rest of you on that. I haven't heard anything on it and the club has gone into full lockdown information wise. I spoke to my man this morning, who had spoken to someone who had just gotten off the phone with FP(bit Chinese whispery I know) and from what I've heard he's still positive about the rest of the window. What that means I don't know. What I do know though is they are trying to back the manager but we do have finite resources and we do have a lot of squad to build. Bare that in mind when you start shouting we should have just thrown everything at it in the first bid. What it hopefully shows you all though is that we do have money and we are prepared to spend it on the right players.

Hopefully we are back on track because whatever any of you think, or whether or not we get the players you want, we will be busy.

Welcome back bud and thanks for the update.

Good to hear that we are busy working on whatever deals we can.

I think @spursfan77 pointed out in a post earlier in the window, we typically don't get things done in January till late so hopefully we are still on to see some movement both in and out.

If we really are down to our last target, and they're prem based, it's slightly worrying. Any creative player worth having in the league is either at a rival club, fighting for European places with us, or at a relegation threatened club. Will be difficult with such little time left.

On a positive note, this is just what D1 knows of. Hopefully there's more names we're looking at that he's not aware of...
