Firstly thanks to Stoof, Rob and A&C for this it was muchly needed.

As I said unless things changed I wouldn't be posting again so glad that it has.

Late last night we had all the financials pretty much in place for Diaz, both clubs and player were happy, and only details needed to be done.

What exactly has happened since? Well I know as much as the rest of you on that. I haven't heard anything on it and the club has gone into full lockdown information wise. I spoke to my man this morning, who had spoken to someone who had just gotten off the phone with FP(bit Chinese whispery I know) and from what I've heard he's still positive about the rest of the window. What that means I don't know. What I do know though is they are trying to back the manager but we do have finite resources and we do have a lot of squad to build. Bare that in mind when you start shouting we should have just thrown everything at it in the first bid. What it hopefully shows you all though is that we do have money and we are prepared to spend it on the right players.

Hopefully we are back on track because whatever any of you think, or whether or not we get the players you want, we will be busy.
Nice one, mate. Keep posting, please

Nice to see we aimed high and seemingly brought a financial package to match it. That hasn't always happened......

Keep positive guys, not over yet.

If we really are down to our last target, and they're prem based, it's slightly worrying. Any creative player worth having in the league is either at a rival club, fighting for European places with us, or at a relegation threatened club. Will be difficult with such little time left.

On a positive note, this is just what D1 knows of. Hopefully there's more names we're looking at that he's not aware of...
There is one player that I can think of that would give us an attack that would be very dangerous and would fill a role we really could do with filling to make us formidable in attack.

We don't operate like this but unless we've gone for the cheaper option first (Diaz), as we believe he is just as good, to draw Liverpool out, so we get a clearer run at this player. Highly doubtful we would spend on this player though.

Can't really see any other viable options

Dragon1 Said

Diaz Liverpool bound club had a small window to wrap it up earlier in week and failed to get it done

we have one creative target left that I know of who is in prem currently not traore but been asked not to post name

Tanguy psg need to clear players to take
gio , rodon no bids
dele Newcastle keep changing mind , Everton want but he wants to see who manager wants
we are a mess
At least the Diaz one didn't drag on (that we know of). Less bothered by these ones. I suspect if we tried to rush it through Liverpool would just have come in sooner.

It's annoying that Wijnaldum doesn't want to come because it seems a perfect swap for 6 months.

Dragons info always comes across with a negative slant.

The comment about failing to get it done in a window is nonsense. It sounds like he already had agreed a deal with Liverpool. We were just a stalking horse.

I think we can all agree that is pretty obvious and probably one reason for a 2 year contract

Well this is just great

Good news from @Trix at least, we need reliable bodies in this window to get 4th, then build in the summer.

My worry with AliZs post is if we continue to go for unachievable targets. we can try but only getting them done will be good enough for Conte.

That would be absolute transfer wizardry and would shove it to a lot of critics.

For that reason I'd say it's highly unlikely.

Said player would actually suit us much better as they are PL proven and not in competition with Sonny.

Its very "catch 22", if we don't get the right ones in during this window, i think its unlikely we make Top4 leaving us in limbo again in the summer, still unable to attract the right calibre of player.
Fingers crossed then.

I worry we're just offering a free negotiation service for other clubs.

Let FP and Levy do all the tough haggling to establish a price you know will be the lowest a club will accept and then swoop in last minute knowing the player will choose you.

Sounds to me like it depends on who you speak to - so let's not jump to conclusions about things like the entire strategy of the club which is not what the ITK can ever give light on (to an extent).

It is a pretty easy conclusion to make though. Our transfer strategy does seem like a bit of a smash and grab. We’ve been linked with numerous positions. Obviously the squad needs a massive overhaul and january is a bit of take what you can get but the flipping and changing is making it look like we don’t have a specific area in mind to strengthen first. Gives me the same feeling Nuno gave me when trying to figure out what the plan is. Rather concerning to be fair.

anyways thanks to all that whored the information and @Trix for daring to put up with this thread again.

That's not how it works. If you want a player, you make an offer. Who cares about other clubs, "free negotiation", etc. If they choose another club etc. So be it. Hence it's always good to have multiple targets.

First of all a big thanks to @Trix glad you're back.
Bloody shame things haven't worked out so far but the lockdown on info is, I think, a good thing as it shows a grim determination at the club and not a sense of resignation.
I've got no doubt we are going to be busy as Trix says and we'll be pushing like buggery now.
Cheers as well to @Hercules and @Hotspur88, all the itk has been solid on who our targets have been and it sounds like for the next day or so no news may be good news. One way or the other we ain't done with our intent and promises to Conte.

It's funny, I'm gonna be honest here, I always thought the rules in this thread were too strict but credit where it's due, the state of it over the course of this window has been pretty shocking. I came in numerous times to basically beg people to stop with their negativity.

I think it's the right thing to go back to a more strict format, particularly if it helps the ITKs to feel more comfortable about sharing their info.

I think we're all feeling a bit burned by the Diaz deal falling through but it sounds like we largely did our part and just got torpedoed by LFC. So be it.

There's 3.5 days left. Gonna do my very best to remain optimistic after a major wobble myself this morning. Up the Spurs.
