I
This was always going to be a problem. We needed a back-up player to Dier as he was massively over-used last season. We also need someone who can fill in for Dembele. We needed to sign a decent player for a not crazy price. We signed Wanyama - perfect fit IMO, however because Dembele is out he's been playing that role, even though he really shouldn't.

I'm hoping that once Dembele is back we'll see Wanyam mostly on the bench in the PL making cameos in the last 20 mins of games to keep Dier more rested. Then in cup games and CL we will see more of Wanyama alongside or instead of Dier to give Dembele a break.

For me at the moment a perfect PL match team looks something like:

Lloris
Walker
Toby
Jan
Rose
Dier (sub Wanyama 70 mins)
Dembele (sub Winks 70 mins)
Dele
Eriksen (sub Jansen 70 mins)
Lamela
Kane
I will be very surprised if Wanyama is dropped when the Moose is back

I agree that he should be Dier competition, but I was replying to a poster saying we need to buy a different player as competition. Which doesn't make sense to me as we just bought Wanyama.

Notice how every palace attack come down our left side

As you can see it's all imo. But majority of palace attacks were down our left side, (lets see over the course of a season how often he gets targeted). Im actually glad that shady pinpointed my comments maybe a few more punters will look past his blood and thunder, He cant pass 20 yards, he is never the best LB in the league, apart from a great attitude, which should be absolute minimum when your on thousands p/w, what does he bring to the table.? As i said before i have been saying it for at least 2 seasons, not knee jerk from the everton game.

Widely opposite? so your saying he is a good passer? gets beyond the attacker on his side and puts any kind of ball into dangerous areas(please show me where or what games he has) You dont have to agree with my opinion, but i will stand by it, Do i need to name better LB's than him in the prem?

OK, so how many chances did they create? How many goals did they score?

Wanyama's been better so far this season.

I was watching the game at the weekend and I think there's an element of Dier not knowing what he has to do. Usually he just sits back and lets Dembele move forward whereas now with Wanyama being a sitting player also, he hasn't looked that amazing and there is two people doing the one job which is breaking up play. Still, when Dembele is back I'd prefer we put him alongside Dier.

So you'd drop Dier???

He might squeeze Dembele further up the pitch and keep both
i am sure that Poch will play Wanyama before Dier if its a choice between the two in the one holding midfielder position.

its not up to me so my choice is irrelevant

No way i see us playing with Dier, Wanyama and Dembele.

doubt he will answer this, I asked the same ? when he posted it, but hasn't replied
I never see your original question! but my answer is absolutly 0 goals and i haven't got a fucking clue how many chances they created, but it was Palace after all. Rose played well against Liverpool, but then everyone else was shit, or so i read on the MDT. One swallow does not make a summer guys, Why do i feel like I'm having a debate with people that have only ever played sunday morning pub football.

I think Dier could probably do with playing fewer games early in this season, given the amount of games he played and the elongation of last season due to the Euros.

Personally i think Dier should be our main go to man for everything PL. But when it comes to CL and cup games, that would be the time to rest him more, especially in the first half of the season.

That being said Wanyama is doing a fine job, so from that perspective it doesn't concern me too much, just my personal preference.

That's fair, although I think it's also worth remembering that Dier is only 22 (I know, ridiculous right?) and we should probably be a bit careful about overplaying him still at this point.

really surprised we aren't in for at least Yarmolenko at his price... He's a winger for goodness sakes. He's a player that would suit our need and alleviate some burden on Lamela and provide cover for Son and the new guy.
