Mark Warburton says he has not stood down as Rangers manager, despite the club saying that they have accepted the resignation of him and his staff.

Rangers announced on Twitter that Warburton, assistant David Weir and head of recruitment, Frank McParland were leaving the club.

It linked to a website statement saying that Rangers had accepted their notices of termination.

But Warburton told BBC Scotland he was unaware of the statement.
Bloody insane pressure he was facing up there. Asking them to get promoted twice and immediatly challenge a Celtic packed with some PL quality players due to Rodgers contacts.

Great defense but they cant score for shit. Had to go, yes, but it wont make much of a difference. I think they'll go down anyway at this point.
Sky has a graphic saying they've only won 4 games all season and the most recent was in December. Ouch.

I've just realized that this must make Wenger the favourite to be the next manager to go as he was 2nd favourite a few days ago.

Speaking of managers getting the sack, how in the world is David Moyes still manager at Sunderland?

I think him not shouting out to the press demanding more funds is helping his cause.

He must be on a fair wage and would get a decent payout if fired.

Sunderland will get relegated. They'll sell everyone they can and then rebuild in the Championship.

Moyes is probably a decent choice for that situation if he is willing to take on the challenge.

He hasnt done a bad job, the club basically lied to him and gave him a mess
Agree he hasn't done too bad, but if he feels he was lied to about what a car crash the club is then he didn't do his research.

As for Karanka, their football has been so bad that I'm only surprised he didn't get booted two months ago.

TBH no one knew the situation at sunderland, it was only revealed around October time that sunderland had no money and that the owner didnt want to be involved anymore

October? I feel like that's been known for ages. Even so, with four straight seasons of barely pulling clear of the drop with a last gasp finish, only a fool would take the job thinking all was well behind the scenes.

Sunderland have been dropping lower and lower but he was told that he would be given some money and try to get Sunderland to be a mid table club

However the club decided to cut costs to reduce the £140m debt and £73m wage bill

It seems like the owners have accepted that they'll go down this season. To be fair they do need to break the cycle of just buying average players to try and stay up. Didn't they confirm earlier this season that they've only sold 3 players for a profit in nine years?

Which journeyman manager is going to get the Boro job then?

Won't be a young English coach that's for sure.

Well Swansea went for Clement so you never know... Gary Rowett or someone else young and talented should get it, but a Pardew, Hodgson or Pearson is probably more likely.

To be fair Pearson and Schteve have been at the club before with decent success.
