Why would they sack Puel when they are one game away from a final and eight points above the relegation zone? Reallistically they're a top ten club and two points off the top ten.

If they keep losing, I can see their board panicking.

Spurs hammered them, Everton did as well. Narrow defeats to Burnley and WBA. If they lose to Norwich in the cup replay, and go out to Liverpool (I expect that tbh), then it becomes tough. Leicester, Swansea, WHU afterwards. Need to win all 3, probably, to get back on track.

Moyes should be next though. Not Puel. Sunderland look hopeless, as does he on the sidelines.

Southampton have suffered this year from not replacing Pelle properly. If they can sign someone in this window they'll be fine. Saying that it sounds like they need to replace Fonte as well.

Sunderland are a mess. Moyes could probably get them out of it if he had the funds, but they've got no money to spend. I'm still a bit surprised that Moyes hasn't identifed some good cheap players from his time in Spain.

They were meant to be getting Yann M'Vila back on a free. It was all agreed. Then he rescinded the agreement and signed a new deal with Rubin Kazan. Some stories a few months ago said that Moyes didn't know there wouldn't be any money to spend when he took the job - no wonder he looks so down on the bench. It's only a matter of time...

Yeah Moyes is doomed. Was just reading his comments post game yesterday..

"The players need to take responsibility and stop making individual mistakes, but I didn't think our overall performance was that bad.

"The fans left early because there is only one road out of here, not just because of the result. They actually leave when we are winning as well sometimes."

He's really not coming across too well imo. He didn't even bother making a sub.

I'm surprised he can remember that far back.

I think he'd be gone if they weren't one game away from a Wembley final. Beating Liverpool might save him at least until the EFL final has been played.

They were playing really well when Charlie Austin was on form before his injury. They desperately need another goalscorer though, you're right. Rodriguez is still not quite the player he was pre-injury.

No way Puel and Moyes survive this week. I mean, they just cant. Can they? At least one has to be going. Give the new manager time to do something in the window....

The thing with Sunderland is that they're up to their eyeballs in debt and Moyes is on what's surely a good sized a 4 year deal. They may not be able to afford sacking him right now and, given their dire financial situation has been revealed, may not have a chance of being able to attract anyone else who could bail them out either.

Another useless performance from Sunderland. Moyes must be circling the drain, if they can indeed afford to get rid of him.

I don't think they can afford to sack him. The messages coming out of the club all seem to suggest that they expect relegation this year.

A good win for Southampton today. They're now eleven points above the relegation zone.

Yep, they did well. Leicester will be saved by the 3-4 terrible teams below them - not that Ranieri will be sacked, might just walk away a hero though..

http://www.football365.com/news/sheridan-sacked-for-fing-c-ref-rant

New Notts County owner Alan Hardy has revealed that manager John Sheridan was sacked for gross misconduct following his expletive-laden rant at match officials.

Last week, a Football Association document was made public for the first time detailing the foul and abusive comments made by Sheridan towards referee Eddie Ilderton and fourth official Matthew Donohue during a 2-0 defeat to Wycombe on December 10.

The report revealed details of Sheridan saying to Donohue ”You’re a f****** c***. A c***,” before shouting at Ilderton: ”You’re a f****** disgrace, you’re f****** useless, you’ve not f****** got anything right today, you should be f****** ashamed, you’re f****** s***, my kids aren’t going to get any f****** Christmas presents because of f****** you”.

Mark Warburton apparently resigned, but some sources online claiming he didn't know he has...!
Mark Warburton says he has not stood down as Rangers manager, despite the club saying that they have accepted the resignation of him and his staff.

Rangers announced on Twitter that Warburton, assistant David Weir and head of recruitment, Frank McParland were leaving the club.

It linked to a website statement saying that Rangers had accepted their notices of termination.

But Warburton told BBC Scotland he was unaware of the statement.
