Red Sox clinched the AL East last night, Fenway Park was in full effect after watching the Yankees choke in the last and extra innings to Baltimore, on the jumbotron.

Big Papi rose to the occasion as he went 3 for 4 including an 8th inning homer.

Boston back where they belong, can they go all the way though?

Ho dear. Swept by Rockies. Still, this year was a big improvement and at least we beat the Mets - 7 games back with 17 to play, biggest comeback/collapse in MLB history!

And I got to go to a playoff game for the first time ever, even if we lost.

Yep, Beckett was filthy and Schilling got the job done, but I have a feeling Dice-K might struggle in Denver tonight. I hope Colorado wake up a bit and start making this series a bit more of a spectacle for us neutrals...

So we just need the Pats and the Celtics to make it a Beantown treble! (dont mention the Bruins!)

Ok we back in this mofo 2008 style.

Naturally I' praying the Red Sox do it again, although they are currently making a meal of some meaningless end of regular season games against the yankees. Could spell trouble when we play the Angels in round 1.

It all gets going on Oct 1

NLDS

Brewers/Phillies (I say Milwakee)
Dodgers/Cubs (Manny to take LA into the NL final)

ALDS

Angels/Bosox (Anaheim to get revenge :-( )
WhiteSox/Rays (Rays continue to surprise)

The championship starts this week, and the paper talk is all about whether Manny's Dodgers' will have their day of destiny with the Bosox. Manny 'being manny' added to controversy by announcing 'I have nothing to say to those Red Sox fans!'.

LA fly into Philly for game 1 Thurs night and the Rays host Boston at Tropicana Field on Friday.

I'm going to have to bet against the Red Sox yet again as the Rays take homefield advantage. Whereas I reckon the Dodgers will be took strong for the Phillies.

I hope I'm wrong on both counts!

Well I was wrong about LA, and the Phillies stride their way into the World Series awaiting home advantage against the best form the AL.

The Red Sox trail 1-3 after two stinkers at Fenway. The final home game of this series could be the start of a famous revivial (see 2007 vs Indians and 2004 vs Yankees, both led to Word Series victories).

Could they make it 3 WS finals in 5 years?, I really dont think so. The Rays look very well organised and the Boston bats have fallen silent for too long in the post season. The only ray of sunshine in this ALCS has been Dice-K in game 1 who returns to the mound tonight. He might give Boston a stay of execution but with the unreliable Beckett expected next up in rotation, I reckon the Rays will clinch it in 6 at the latest.

The Bosox dream ended for another year on Sunday night, they nearly got there with the bases loaded in the eighth.

Can TB go from zeros to heroes in the WS? They are currently tied at 1-1, with a set of 3 games at Philly coming up....

Well Claw, you really underestimated my Phillies, huh? That's what all the pundits did too, which was fine by me.

What a season. Another great comeback in the division (on Sept 11th we were 3 1/2 games back in the East as well as 4 in the wild card), followed by dominating performances in all 3 postseason rounds. I can't remember the last time a team went 11-3 in the playoffs. And I know that nobody's ever gone 7-0 at home before. I think it must have been an entertaining WS for the neutral too...had everything: Home runs, great pitching, a blowout, a long rain delay (I was there and got soaked!), the first ever game-ending infield single in WS history...a game played over 3 days! And Brad Lidge. What a performance all year. 48 for 48 in saves and if he doesn't win the Cy Young then there's something wrong with the voting!

Because I had a season ticket plan this year I got to go to a game in every series. Went to game 2 against the Brewers, which was that cazy Myers/Sabathia game, game 1 against Manny (I won't say against the Dodgers because he was the only threat in that series), and as mentioned, that amazing game 3 against Tampa where Jamie Moyer put in the performance of a man half his age, when his team needed him most!
