Now Coldplay, that's much better. (y)

That video they played nearly brought a torrent of tears.

Amazing ceremony. Coldplay were perfect for it. I think both ceremonies were better than the Olympic ones

Just caught the last 45 mins on 4+1. Great set from coldplay with jayZ.
As others have said, I didn't really care much for the Olympics untill they actually started.
Think it's fair to say that I have a massive sense of pride now, that it was held in our great city!
Had a great haul of medals in both normal and para Olympics which just tops it off nicely!

Also I think the whole show was carried out brilliantly by all the volunteers and staff!

Amazing stuff :)

To be fair we dont how much spend on the Paralympics budget, I know the british team wanted to spent alot more than they did, we were asked at uni to make a virtual training machine for the wheelchair basketball team and it got put on hold for after this olympics after not having enough money after cuts

but back to point I dont think the US take it as seriously as other nations, the fact they havent given it any airtime pretty much proves it imo
Indeed. However, whilst it will still be a small-time thing for the USOA (or whatever acronym it is), I think they throw a few extra shekels their way for 2016. This games, if given the right coverage is still an avenue advertisers will go down to invest. Of course on a much smaller scale than the olympics.

TBH, I hope they do. The more competetive it becomes the better. I was talking a guy at my rowing club. He was involved in Athens as a physio for the GB paralympic team. Even then the cometition in most events was non-existent. As well as the public response, in the host nation anyway, I think that has changed the perception of the paralympics most this time round. This being my first view, I loved it. Were it generally crap in terms of drama etc before then I can understand why it's been a slow-burner in terms of the money advertisers were willing to throw at it.

And the CC was deffo better than the olympics but still rather naff, for mine. It should be like that though, it's tradition.

Can't we have the Olympics every summer? Pweeeeease?

Sadly this is very much true. ESPN have zero coverage of the Paralympics, NBC's coverage is a joke (about 5 hours worth for the entire Games) and the newspapers barely talk about it. Joshua George has written some good stuff about the Games for the New York Times but they are a struggle to find. If the USA wants to host the Olympics in future then they need to address the lack of interest in the Paralympics from the American media as it will count against any bid, like it did for New York in 2005.
