This is all a bit Mad Max so far isn't it?

I quite like it actually.

So, we end 3rd in the medals table which is excellent.

I expect with some of the controversies mentioned, there will be some rule changes before Rio and that will make good improvements that will enhance the Games.

I hope both the Olympics and Paralympics have inspired people, especially youngsters whether disabled or not, to take up a sport of some kind and that it will have had a long-lasting impact.

I really didn't think these Games in London would be so wonderful and I'm truly sad they have finished. I'll be following and watching athletics and other sports from other venues more than I would have before them.

Well, my oldest has joined a swimming club and is going 3 times a week. She started the week after the swimming at the olympics finished. My wife has started swimming again, she swam all through her childhood and for her uni for a couple of yrs. Hell, I've even reinstated my rowing club membership. Been twice a week before or after work for the last 3 weeks. I am so out of shape. :( I think what has shocked me is my opinions that there wasn't much going on in terms of sports outside of footy leagues or the odd cricket club in London. How very wrong I was. There are more than a few pools, hockey pitches etc. The clubs are really hoping for a little bigetry boost in the next couple of yrs to improve the infrastruture more.

Interestingly, apart from a couple of centres of real excellence, the real shortfall in sports facilities hapens at the uni level, or so I was told.

Your last para echoes my view exactly.

Closing ceremony is pony once again, mind.

This has kinda come up in commentary during the early days, particularly regarding the wheelchairs: "the poorer nations couldn't afford the best equipment nor afford better training".
Which is why none of the American sprinters won gold I take it. I dunno, I'm thinking the USA starts to really scour for talent in the next 4 yrs myself. They're still a strong country on the track but there must be more potential out there.

So, what you guys think of Colplay so far?

I saw the first song, wasn't impressed, so took the opportunity to go feed my Mum's cat.

Got back in time to see Rihanna; a marginal improvement.

Rihanna is as yummy to look at as she is to listen to, when she sings upbeat stuff.

And yeah, this is pissing on the 'other' CC.

That brazilian guy in the white suit has to be one of the worst mimers to music I've seen - aside from the Spice Girls and Cheryl Cole, ofc. ;)

Loving it so far great performance by cold play considering they didnt have a break probably lost a stone whilst performing

Its better than the other closing ceremony as it knows what it is and trying too hard

That said I wasnt impressed by the sound engineer

Im big hip hop fan and Jay Z performing may ruin it for me

I love Coldplay so I enjoyed that, though I thought it was a bit harsh when they sang Para, Para, Paralysed. Rubbing it in a bit i thought.

To be fair we dont how much spend on the Paralympics budget, I know the british team wanted to spent alot more than they did, we were asked at uni to make a virtual training machine for the wheelchair basketball team and it got put on hold for after this olympics after not having enough money after cuts

but back to point I dont think the US take it as seriously as other nations, the fact they havent given it any airtime pretty much proves it imo
