The Chelsea pensioners should definitely be in that list, we are in a race for 3rd, 4th is the second prize, Europa league 3rd prize.

I see Chelsea as favourites with their window purchases, us as 2nd favs and a toss up between the other two.

Liverpool have over payed for mediocrity and Arsenal have bought older injury prone players. The Arsenal fans I know have themselves pencilled in for 7th and that was before Saturday.

I genuinely believe our squad and our first team are a step or two ahead of both Arsenal and Liverpool.

With that in mind, 4th should be the absolute minimum we achieve this year. Chelsea haven't looked particularly amazing at all this year either, so I don't see why we can't aim to overtake them.

I think alot of people have been blinded by the money that Liverpool have spent. Just because Henderson cost £20 million, doesn't necessarily mean he is any good, same with Andy Carroll for £35 million.

Imo the only real quality they have added has been Suarez and Downing (though the latter was piss poor on Sunday).

Totally agree on both points.

55 million for Carroll and Henderson always had a bit of :eek:mg: about it.

For the first time since January, I genuinely feel very optimistic about our chances of re-establishing ourselves in the top 4.

While I loved the Adebayor signing, I thought it would take him some time settle and gel with the squad. He's been absolutely stunning so far and has clearly invigorated the rest of the squad. Him getting injured, though, is the only real concern we have going forward. I was pretty vocal about us needing to bring in a second striker late and still think it's pretty vital in January, but if Adebayor can stay fit, we're in great shape.

The other two keys to the squad will be whether Ledley King can play a significant number of games, and whether Luka Modric will now forget about his Chelsea ambitions and stay with us for the entire season. I think the latter is more likely than the former, so again, if we can bring in another defender in January, that would really solidify us going forward. Samba would be a pretty good target if Blackburn struggle.

I still think it will be a tough fight with Liverpool for 4th, but I must say, they failed to impress me last weekend (I previously thought they were a much stronger side based on seeing a number of their games last season and the Bolton/Arsenal games this season). In fact, Liverpool have been very poor in the two games since they sold Meiereles. That was a big mistake on their part, and could well be the difference between the two sides at the end of the season.

One does wonder, after our performance on Saturday, what someone like Rossi would do in our line-up in place of Defoe. I think we would be genuine title contenders if we somehow added him to our squad.

As long as we don't get over confident we should beat Wigan, in fact I think we could win by quite a few...hoping the players don't read this

Rodallega, their best player has been ruled out for 3 months hasn't he? Nzogbia gone....Only Ben Watson to stifle

Seriously though Wigan arn't physical and get the ball down and play. If the same commitment is shown from us I expect us to win by a healthy margin, I really do.

I believe it is in these games that we will really see the value of having a player like Parker in the side...he will have drive and determination in these type of games. That was clearly one of the key things we lacked...nearly all of our players had drive and determination in the games against our top sides.

That was why I wanted him in the Summer.

Having seen 180 minutes of Parker in the flesh, I must confess that my concernsabout us signing him were totally wrong.

I suppose that's why I drive buses, and Redknapp manages football teams.

We are right in the mix, if we can give Arsenal a pasting in a couple of weeks I think we could bury them for the season mentally, might even put Wenger's job on the line...

Adebayor is the key to everything. Wrap him in cotton wool.

I was surprised they sold him as well but even if they hadn't I still think we are stronger one to eleven, definitely in fact.

Liveepool players shot so badly during warm-up practice last week. It's unreal. I can't believe they are professional players. Either that or they're holding back as it's only practice. Even if they are holding back, it shows the kind of mentality they have. It's not easy to just "switch it on".

Im quietly confident we can finish in the top 4.

All the positions we needed to improve, we have.
We have played 3 of the other teams likely to be in the top 6 already.
With Adebayor we have a player who can win us a game when we arent playing well.

Reckon this should be the race for third to start with and then adjust accordingly! :)

This year the thread should be the race for third and fourth with Chelski thrown into the mix! Right now they are looking a little vulnerable as well.
