We are 3 points behind them with one game in hand but a with a poorer goal difference.

Assuming we win all our games and Man City win all their games, except of course their home game against us, we will be on the same number of points. Either they have to drop more points than us or, if they match us, we will need to make up the goal difference.

This is up there with the best

We beat them - same points.
We win our game in hand - 3 points ahead.
We win our other games - uncatchable.

This could turn into a Rupstoh/Bassong moment...

Will certainly be interesting now with Tevez out for upto 4 weeks, and as we all know, he's hardly going to be sharp after those 4 weeks.

Looks like 4th spot is still for the taking. There's no reason why we can't win our game in hand over them when you weigh the remaining fixtures up like this:

Man City
Blackburn (A) - tough game for them, possible draw
West Ham (H) - should win
Everton (A) - tough game, possible draw
Spurs (H) - we need to win this
Stoke (H) - should win
Bolton (A) - likely to loose this one

So i reckon if we beat them they're likely to pick up a maximum of 8 points on their current form, bringing them to a total of 64 pts.

Spurs
Arsenal (H) - draw in it for us i reckon
West Brom (H) - must win game for us
Chelsea (A) - think we can bank on this being a lose
Blackpool (H) - should win this one too
City (A) - must win if we want 4th
Liverpool (A) - chalk this down as a lose too
Birmingham (H) - and a win to end things on a high note

Would bring us 13 points, taking us to a total of 66 points. This actually makes the Arsenal game less crucial, as we can afford to lose this assuming we get the wins from above. Basically 4 wins from the next 7 games and i reckon we'll edge it.

However it's going to come down to the last day of the season results for us and City IMO.

Never doubted it. Even with my erroneous conclusions. That makes me even more of an optimist/fantasist than your lot.

I think before bringing back the smurfs, we need to bring back stoof. He's busy living it up in the mountains while we're suffering over here. Knowing him, he'll show up right at the end, as we're qualifying for the CL, and take all the glory and credit. Damn limelight stealing stoof, what with his perfect perfectness and all.

Please come back stoof. I love you!

I think Tevez's first game back will be against us, most likely!

Could well be and of course that will be used much like Ronaldo's fitness was in the build to the game out in Madrid.

But you know what, who cares! They're going to miss him big time between now and then and they're going to drop points.

If we beat Arsenal I'll be very confident of reclaiming fourth, thats what we need now a big win to get us going, just like last season. What a spring board that would be.

Even a draw isn't too bad and keeps it very much alive, but a win! - I can feel it, it will be happen again.

Lets be honest they're going to struggle without Tevez and it could well prove significant.

A draw against the Scum isn't enough for us. If we draw against them it leaves us needing a result either away at Liverpool or away at Chelsea and we have done very very badly at both of those grounds over the years.

We have to win our four home games. If we do that then we'll be in with a shout.

Perhaps, but are you assuming City win all their games apart from our game with them?

No. I'm assuming we'll lose away at Chelsea and Liverpool so if we didn't beat Arsenal as well that'd be 8 points dropped meaning City would need to drop 8 points somewhere. Looking at their games I'm not sure that's very likely.
