All this talk of a Top 4, or Top 5 finish gives me hope for next season.

The fact that we're still in the conversation, given the sub-par and even sometimes shocking state of our performances over the last 9 months, points to (i) how talented our squad actually is and (ii) that the likes of Leicester, West Ham and Everton aren't as good as some make them out to be.

And the fact that Kane, Son and even Bale have scored a good number of goals, in a team that has been playing defensive football is particularly ominous for our rivals.

FWIW, I think in 21/22 Chelsea and Liverpool will improve, Man Utd will drop a little and we'll be right in the mix again.

And Arsenal will be mid-table

So will the others in that case. At which point, it would be no better than the Europa League anyway.

Wonder if the clubs would then arrange a friendly matches vs each other and watch everyone loose their shit

I just wish Mourinho had been fired five games earlier than he was. Nothing to do with hindsight, we could hardly get worse under someone else, but Mason has shown, in the league at least, that a sensible formation with sensible players can turn over most teams we play. Bale, Son and Kane are a lethal front three and will guarantee you goals if you play to their strengths.

It was obvious months ago that Mourinho had no idea and no inclination to build the team around those front three. Unquestionably, we would be in for a better chance of a top four finish if he’d been fired earlier. While we’re still in with a slim chance, it’s probably too little, too late

It's great to still have something to play for at the end of a pretty disastrous season.

As long as we give a good account of ourselves and go for it over the next 4 games I'll be satisfied. 6th and EL should be the absolute minimum we achieve, anything above that is a bonus.

Just happy to be free of Jose. All of the players apart from Kane looked happier last night and pushed for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals. I want that same desire in our remaining games.

Here's a question...

Where is the postponed United vs Liverpool game going to go?

As things stand here are their ends to the season...

Thu 6th May – United vs Roma EL

Sat 8th May – Liverpool vs Southampton
Sun 9th May – Villa vs United

Wed 12th May – United vs Leicester

Sun 16th May – West Brom vs Liverpool

Wed 19th May – Burnley vs Liverpool
Wed 19th May – United vs Fulham

Sun 23rd May – Liverpool vs Palace
Sun 23rd May – Wolves vs United

There isn't a clear space for it. They could move West Brom vs Liverpool to Wed 12th May and then have the game on the Sun 16th. Otherwise, they're gonna have to have a double midweek like we did at the beginning of the season. Just wouldn't want United playing Leicester and Liverpool two days apart.

That's what they'll do I reckon, they've already done it before with us and fulham didn't they.

I honestly think if we win our final 4 games, we’ll finish inside the top 4.

I also don’t think we’ll win all of our final 4 games.

I'm getting excited for the run in but that Leeds game is going to be tricky. I just want to get past that one and then I'll really start to believe that it's on.

They have to move WBA - Liverpool to the 12th as Leicester play the cup final on the 15th, and then play the game on the 16th. There can't possibly be any other solution IMO.

Oh yeah, didn’t realise that game was then thought it was end of the season.

No the 30th is the CL final and then we're straight into the Euros, so the FA Cup final had to be played earlier this time.

Ive just done a PL predictor and we would need a lot of other teams to falter whilst we would need at least 3 wins and a draw.

Leicester would need to drop points in all 4 remaining matches. Chelsea would have to at least lose one and have one draw. West Ham would need to draw a couple of games too as would Liverpool.

I think there is too much to do with us having to rely on other results.

We really should win all three before Leicester, but Leeds away next is the one with the biggest potential for a slip up.

Their form against the top sides is phenomenal - drew with United, drew with Liverpool, beat City. It's the mid-table sides where they've been letting themselves down.

So by that logic, we should fucking batter them

When considering the 20 points dropped from winning positions, have to admit I'm surprised we're even in the realms of a sniff of top 4, albeit a slim chance.

This features us drawing at Elland Road, but Leicester then having nothing to play for on final day and losing to us. But is a scenario that could still go pearshaped if Arsenal win the Europa League and Chelsea win the Champions League.
