Calciomercato.com says that according to Tuttosport, we are interested in Roma's young midfielder, Nicolo Zaniolo. He seems to play quite well this season.

Been my number 1 pick for cm all season. He's going to be absolutely world class. Roma would be crazy to sell him tho. Stealing him off inter was a masterstroke. He will cost a massive amount for them to come to the table. Unless there is a release clause I don't know about.

Such a shame we missed the boat with De Ligt, could see him and Sanchez leading our defence for years. Ajax sure know how to develop CBs.

As for Gomes, I don't see him as someone who would improve our starting XI but I do see him as a good option to have in the squad for a team who aspire to fight on four fronts. We can't go and buy a world class player in every position unfortunately, well we probably can't do that anyway, we will aim for players like Son/Sanchez/Sissoko/Eriksen who are close to being at an elite level but weren't quite there yet.

I could be wrong but isn't that why he wants to leave Barcelona?

He wants to be playing regularly.

I haven't seen much of Roma this season. Isn't he more of an AM than CM?

Neither Sess or Gomes are good enough to make us better. Would be massively underwhelming if after not spending for 18 months our signings are of that ilk.

Have a read through this thread and you will see way better players suggested.

I’m really hoping the summer is about signing players we haven’t been linked to, much the same way we signed Son or Sanchez.
Don't agree on Sessegnon. Great prospect.

He has the intelligence and athleticism to be an amazing LB/LWB depending on what system we use and with Poch's guidance. He's 19 next month and has a scary high ceiling for what he can develop into.

I do agree with this but at the quoted £35-40m and with a lot of other areas to improve I do wonder if it'd be the right way to use our (no doubt) limited funds.

Think we are looking at Gomes, Andersen, Sessegnon and Aarons as our additions, possibly with a backup striker and 2nd CM added in.

I don’t want to be a dick.. honest question cos I hear this sort of thing a lot...how do you know this?

It seems to me to be a really difficult question for even the most seasoned scout to answer so I’m curious how people can make these judgements.

On current form I'd sell Dele for 100m+ and bring in Grealish for less than half that.

Wow! I'd expect something like this from @OPModric but didn't expect anyone else. I did expect the response you got from the drooling horde though. Predictable one would say. I can't 'agree' with you post for a couple reasons. First is that I don't believe their would be any takers for Dele @ that number for a variety of reasons. We will be lucky to get that number for Eriksen were he to leave and his game is more adaptable to more teams.

Second is, and I'm speaking from ignorance here as I haven't seen Grealish play this year but that handicap doesn't seem to stop most here suggesting random players or shouting down your suggestion without even actually considering the implications, I'm not sure Grealish would be the player profile (actual performance not reputation) to warrant such a move. He seems to be another positionless/tweener type of player which would bring the same selection headaches.

Now if your suggestion was for a real, complete MFer then that would just be good business so I don't really know what there would be to disagree with. ManU is realizing this now and looks like they will be getting rid of Pogba. His fanboys are realizing it as well and seem to be getting more comfortable with the idea that a player has to impact a game in more than just situations when he has the ball.

I really hope we don't go for Gomes, he's decent at keeping play ticking over but he lacks the athleticism to succeed in Poch's pressing game IMO.

We need a CM with the potential to become a star, not a middle-of-the-road squad player. While I'd love someone like Ndombele, I don't expect that we'll be able to bring in the finished article. Even still, we should be looking to bring in someone who has the scope to reach that level, not an established mediocrity.

Bring me Sander Berge- I feel I know every part of him intimately and I’ve never seen him play
