What we can’t have is another repeat of this season. 3/4 players out injured and all of a sudden we can barely name 7 substitutes, any of whom can change a game. The likes of Lallana would certainly be an addition to our squad currently when you consider he bench we had vs Ajax.

In the very unlikely event that he was fit maybe. Poch likes a small squad and because of that I don't think we can afford to have anybody with a dodgy injury record unless we're talking Kane and Winks. They are enough of a risk without the likes of Lallana and Bale.

The main damaging aspect of the complete inaction over the last few windows wasn’t even the lack of additions to the starting first eleven, but the adding to of the squad with talented players of the younger variety. In the way that we now have say Sánchez embedded into the squad to help make Toby going ( if he does ) a little smoother as a very rough example ( I’m aware Sánchez was very expensive ), we must make sure that, even if our very first targets don’t come to fruition, we are not so rigid that we stand completely still again.

Yes, a fair few purchases can become albatrosses and fail, but if you don’t speculate at all then you have ZERO chance of having the next Eriksen or the next Dembele already in the squad and ready to make a transition into the starting team nucleus, unless you have a prodigious academy prospect.

To a degree I have sympathy for the apparent stand that Poch took last season, but if the likes of NDombele or whoever else he most desperately wants are not to be had, we had better be flexible and find other fresh blood to bring in

Lloris, whilst often kneejerkingly awful, is still top 5 in the league and on his day will win us more points than he loses us.

Full backs, especially RB and at least 2 CM's are the priority. One 'Marquee' nailed on starter each week, and one decent rotation option.

Add in a forward with pace and we're set. Obviously things change is Eriksen/Toby leave.

AWB/Atal
Ndombele or similar (Doucoure?)
Grealish
Brandt

Personally, if the financials could be sorted in our favour, I'd take Bale too. Maybe on loan as part of an Eriksen deal?

Trouble is that from past experience, Levy loves to hang everything out til the last minute and tries to throw his weight around. We've heard so many stories of how we nearly got this player and that but in all honesty, I think this window should be about identifying attainable targets and getting deals done early so that they have a proper pre season. That, IMO, is the only hope we have of integrating the 4 or 5 players we're possibly/probably going to need going into next season. If deals get bogged down we need to move on swiftly and get stuff done.

Well, this is the wish list thread after all, who would you like to see us bring in to upgrade on him?

I get it's a wishlist but he is still one of our best players and upgrading on goalkeepers is extremely difficult. In the PL apart from DDG there is no keeper that is 100% better than Lloris. When you factor in he is our club captain it makes no sense to even draw up a list. I totally understand he needs better competition. So signing someone like Nick Pope may get him to up his game.

How quickly people forget...

The only time buying loads of players in one window has done us any good at all was the summer Arnesen bought us a whole new squad, and it was hardly difficult to improve since we'd nearly got relegated the season before.

We will definitely ship a few out this summer but I would be surprised (and slightly concerned) to see more than 4 senior players come in. Quality over quantity, evolution not revolution etc.

The key to mitigating that is to sign PL experienced players and sign them before pre season starts

I'll be honest, I thought you said 'we can upgrade on Lloris', my iphone screen is cracked as fuck so must've impeded my vision. I agree with everything you've said in this post and it oes in fact mirror a post I made earlier.

If this really happens...I am giving up cookies forever

Thread is called wish list. I avoided putting Messi, Sterling and Varane.

Someone should probably start a realistic signing thread where I’ll put down Wellbeck and Grealish.

Adam Lalana isn't a bad shout. Still only 30 and he is a very versatile player. We just need to know whether the games he has missed wasnt through injury and just through selection

We’ve been decimated by injuries at times this year. Why the fuck would we want to invite that again by buying injury prone players like Welbeck and Lallana?

We need 4 or 5 even if we don't let people go imo - and it looks as though a few will be moving on who perhaps we don't want to Ericksen and Alderweireld - you have to question Lamela' s fitness - Llorente surely he won't be around for another season - is Wanyama good enough - that's not even questioning the full backs and the need for a third keeper

So perhaps the numbers do need to be fairly high
Of those players listed as First Team on the official website, we could lose:

Janssen
Lamela
Wanyama
Vorm
Nkoudou
Llorente
Onomah
Carter-Vickers

sign (for example):

Ndombele
Grealish
Zaha

and be better than we've been this year.

In my opinion, of course.

I’m not allowing myself to contemplate that Eriksen might leave.

He’s irreplaceable.

I'd be ok with him leaving for Big money and then take Brooks away from Bournemouth and bank £20/30m.

Eriksen has been outstanding for us but i'm not sure if he will sign a new contract and we can't let him leave for free next year. It may be time to move on and spot the next Eriksen. Obviously not there atm but a younger model with clear potential.

Chuck in a better RB than we currently have, and that would be a decent window

Even though we have had information about Wanyama and his knee, when he appears on people's 'out/to leave' list, is he going on a free?

I'd like to see us sign either one of van de Beek or Neres in the summer
Van der Sar said before Tottenham game the team will not be completely broken up.

De Jong has already gone, De Ligt will go and probably Ziyech. I don't think they will sell anyone else this summer
