Heard that Poch intended to take Kirby with the squad to preseason, before he left. Whether it was a ploy to encourage him to stay or if he genuinely thought he was ready it shows how highly rated he was.

As I've said before it's a real shame he's gone and I feel most never got to see him play properly. However if he dies well at Palace and gets into first team makes our academy set up look good. Means we'll attract more good youngsters, but could also mean we'll struggle to hold onto em as they get older

sounds like it would've been a ploy to me, tob wasn't invited to join the 1st team and he's at the very least as good/talented as kirby.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be surprised if he liked Kirby more or had it in mind to use him sooner due to the type of player he is and equivalent ability. Whereas TOB would be like Onomah, so would have no need to go. Also would taking him have been wise unless he actually rated him. Imagine he stayed and played in preseason to pay lip service. The hype that would have surrounded him would be ridiculous and everyone would be watching his moves, only for him to end up playing u18s if he wasn't ready. Then people would start calling him overrated. Risky strategy.

That team selection was absolutely hideous.

Did he 'bolster' it with Pau Lopez and Carroll to try to get a win over Arsenal?!
