Or maybe just maybe Poch and whoever saw how Sissoko performed for France in the euro's and thought he could be good for us with his powerful running. He certainly looked a better player than 27 gadjillion pound pogba

i think sissoko would be a good player in a team sitting back so that there is space for him to run with the ball, just like the assist he made for rose during the match against burnley

I'll use an example then.

Basically what I'm saying is Poch and McDermott see these players every day. So in a sense we're beheld to their judgments and should probably trust them, plus their track record gives validity to that.

Take the WF position with Spurs. The role of someone who can dribble and attack the opposition at pace is a role we've obviously been targeting and attempted to fill. We've failed so far with the purchases of Njie and Nkoudou and have also targeted players like Zaha.

Now on the flipside there is/was an academy product in Oduwa who filled the remit in its most basic sense. As in that is his playing style. That said McDermott and Poch have already deemed him not good enough through training etc. So then they go out and buy players who flop like Njie and Nkoudou.

Now after those players flop people like to say "well Oduwa is just as good as those players so we shouldn't have bought them and just played Oduwa instead."

Which is clearly wrong.

None of them were good enough so really none of them played. We're looking to actual fix the problem so we need to take punts on those players and hope they don't work out. Some won't, that's the nature of the business. The fact is we can't just plug Oduwa in there and say "job done" - so we need to keep trying. We might keep failing, but the point is that's still a hole in the squad. Given our transfer budget/scouting remit we'll also still need to take punts.

Does that make more sense?
Definitely! (y)

We've done this before, they are completely diffent type of players who play different positions, 1 is an creative AM, 1 is a fast striker/wide forward and the other is a quick tricky winger. If need more creativity to unlock a stubborn defence, you are not going to use Njie or GKN and if you want some one to add width, run at defenders at speed or get in behind a defence you are not going to use Pritchard.

There are big question marks as to we be bought Njie and GKN and I can completely understand the disappointment of letting Pritchard go but 1 has nothing to do with the other and it has also been mentioned that Prichard asked to leave as he wanted 1st team football, so we may have wanted to keep him as a squad player but not wanted to retain an unhappy player.
This isn't really how it works though. Despite doing very different jobs, this season Eriksen, Alli, Son, Nkoudou and Sissoko have all been competing for the same positions on the pitch.

Where's KWP going to be playing? Kenny is a right back too right?

KWP looks so comfortable. How he's not started the other games I don't know.

I've been fairly disappointed with that first half from England. No fucking way that has been a 'good performance', youth football or not, as the commentators make out. I'm not sure how they're trying to play, there is no attempt to control the play and build attacks. It's all rushed and random individual moments.

KWP is maybe England's most assured player in terms of touch on the ball and close control. However he is limited playing on the left and its not easy to get forward with Lookman on his side hanging wide. The No.2 Kenny on the other flank has had a couple of good moments, plenty of fairly ropey ones and just looks like an honest toiler and is lucky to have the RB slot.

Onomah... To his credit he is basically the only one who has any thought of playing with a bit of control and making passes in the centre of the pitch and probing away, but he looks a bit out of place - Ejaria, Lookman, DCL etc. are all individuals by contrast going themselves. He needs to be a bit busier in looking for the ball though in my opinion, and he's got to be a lot busier with his work off the ball when Korea have the ball.

This is so frustrating Onomah is absolutely dominating this second half... England should have had 2 just from Onomah's creativity this half he's been great on the ball fantastic driving forward. Poor finishing so far.

As I say that England go 1-0 up.

After a videro review, the ref doesnt give a clear red card to that Korean for that obvious stamp(with his weight on it) on KWP. Shameful decision. Thankfully KWP is okay, though.

1-0 England FT. Game got a bit more stretched in the second half and suited England, felt Korea declined a bit physically.

Onomah went up a gear in the second half.

Great second half from Onomah, really hoping he can push on with the first team in pre-season like Winks did last pre-season.
