Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Think those rumors about him wanting to leave changed things a bit. I know some people think he's destined for Arsenal but I really think they are after Krychowiak.

Does our DM list being unexpectedly lengthened mean that Illaremendi/Bender/Kramer are no no's or that Wanyama's people have given us a a 'bid and you'll get me' type message. Or probably both. It would make sense if it was the former but then technically our list has shortened by 3, not lengthened.

Not sure I understand.
If prime targets aren't interested anymore then surely they're no longer ON the list, therefore it's automatically shortened! No??

I took 'unexpectedly lengthened' to mean, the existing targets are still there (regardless of where on the list), but a few new options have come to light ie Wanyama, or maybe someone else!

"unexpectedly lengthened" seems clear to me. Wanyama is now on the list as we didn't think he was gettable before and now we may just have a go at it. Grey Fox may as well have put a winky face after it.
