i dont understand why there's such a slow-down of itk over the weekends? is it just that people have things to do and arent just bored at work?

i've longed stoped comparing transfer fee agsint transefer fee. Yes it's nice to have a good player at a small price but i'm never critical of the higher amounts players go for.

there are almost more things that determine cost than the players actual ability to play football. Age, club, rival bids, length of contract, propaganda... so just strip all that crap away and look at a transfer on merit of what the player can bring and make the price irrelevant.

when we bought hutton when we needed him, now we're selling becasue we don't so 5m for someone we don't want is perfectly acceptable. Making room for someone we do need is priceless.

jordan hednerson will either be good or not for liverpool. i personally predict he's playing for someone esle buy 2014 but thats nothing to do with his price more his only ok ability. The less expensive Charlie Adam will contribute heavily in any sucess liverpool have over the next 4-5 seasons. Nothing to do with his cost though.

Indeed, as long as the finances of the club aren't threatened, I really don't see why fans bother talking about value and prices. The only measure of success for a transfer is how well the player performed for the club, regardless of money paid.

I still maintain that we are after the wrong person. Don't get me wrong, Rossi is a great player and I'd love to see him in a Spurs shirt, but does he fit the formation that we play? No. We need a Crouch (albeit a better version). Who could that be? Llorente. Can hold up the ball, score headers, he's big, he's strong, he's fast.

Maybe Harry's playing a game and only claiming we're after Rossi because we don't want other teams getting in on Llorente. That seems unlikely though, due to all the ITK pointing towards Rossi. Llorente would also be the cheaper option, I can't see Bilbao asking for more that £25m for him, and even that would be a great price for a player of his standard.

Yes, I am a Llorente fan boy :)

Were not making that much of a loss because we got a bit of money from sunderland when they had him on loan

We won't make a loss on Hutton either. all players are assets and when we sign them for whatever contract term their value is amortised over that period. a few seasons back a poster on here explained how this works. basically the value we bought the player for is divided over the length of said contract. we have had Hutton on our books for what 3.5yrs now so his amortised value woulds be about a third of what we bought him for, that would be just about 3 million pounds so were we to sell him for 5 million we would make a profit of 2 million. that is how it was explained a few years back.

I can't remember if Hutton's final fee was staggered or incentivised at all, as it might have not had its full value triggered.

But even if it has, this is still a smaller loss than the profit we made on O'Hara, so who cares? You win some (most, actually, when you're Levy) and lose some.

Hi Bill. Would a percentage of his value be written of against tax each year on Spurs books

A lot of people are saying this but have not seen him play much, he can and has played up front on his own for Villarreal

Exactly right.

If we sold Keane for a quid tomorrow, we'd be making a profit not a loss!

Levy is a businessman, the way he looks a player acquisitions and disposals generally comes down to the effect it has on the company's balance sheet.

Obviously he wants the best price possible but people should not be too quick to assume that its the value he puts on players that is stopping deals taking place.

People like Keane and Jenas have fantastically good contracts. Not too many clubs would want to pay them what they are currently on even if they paid very little for them.

I know players often say they "just want to be playing" but when faced with a 20k a week/million quid a year hit in wages, its amazing how many players are happy to stay put.

This is the only reason i can see for Jenas not leaving - which is sad, as he seems to have lost his appetite to be the best he possibly can and is happy to be way down the order with us.

i don't think that is the case with Jenas though. he does want to play. i remember last september where he came out and said he had played with a long term injury and considered leaving at one stage when some offers had come in for him.

I'm hoping that this is going to be a signing thats more "under the radar" than the targets we've been linked with more publicly.

We are obviously on good terms with Bilbao (pre-season frinedly at the lane) and it was reported we put a bid in previously. Seeing as he has hardly deterioated since January, presumably the interest remains - unless he has ruled out coming to England.

He's just had another season where he's played a limited number of games and yet there's no indication he is trying to get away to play more games (compare with Niko)

Really don't see the point in us bringing in a centre back unless he's top notch, which Evans isn't.

i know, that is down to Harry though. he chooses the team on the day. i think if JJ is not sold now he will probably go in january.
