It's self-ironic, and I see very little wrong with that. I like that we're able to laugh at our own misery, as opposed to for instance Liverpool fans.

Bit premature all this title talk and spursy stuff. I wouldnt look further than Man City away for the moment.

Fuck it off. Seriously.

The effort, growth and development from poch and the boys has earned its obliteration.
Not when they might be piped at the post for the title by a team without growth and development. Now that is SPURSY!

My example would be

Tottenham are the only team to get a top 4 spot and then be pipped to the champions league place by Chelsea winning the champions league.

This is spursy. Like an Alanis Morrisette song.

Words are crucial. We need to disassociate ourselves from the dissapointments of the past and this word seeks to anchor us to them.

Fuck it off. Seriously.

The effort, growth and development from poch and the boys has earned its obliteration.

I agree with your sentiment but find problems in believing anything else about it. Let's win something first and say that, that has earned its obliteration. Playing like champions doesn't make you a champion, winning a championship does.

In the last decade we have had final day chances to come in the top 4, we did it once against City and failed once against West Ham.
We have been in 2 finals, we beat Chelsea in one and lost against United in another.
Last season we won our final game and went from 7th to 5th.

When we have top class players such as Woodgate and Ledders at the back we win cups, when we have top class players such as Modric and Bale we get 4th and do well in the CL.

To be honest, not a lot has gone wrong in the last decade so I'm baffled as to why our fans seem to think we are unlucky.

I'd rather not be West Hammy which involves losing cup finals in the last minute, relegation, being in the top 4 and then dropping like a stone.
Or Evertony, twice qualifying for the European cup/CL to be denied by your fiercest rival getting clubs banned from Europe and winning the CL.
Or practically any other club in the Premiership that hasn't had European football 10 years on the trot whilst experiencing relegation.

If there was some justification for the term then fair enough but compared to any team outside the top 4 it's complete bollocks.

When we stop being Spursy then we can stop using it.

Simples.
But people literally use it whenever we lose a game or draw a game we should win like we're the only team that does that, it's so stupid.

Lasagna gate and Chelsea 2012 are obvious fuel to the 'spursy' fire, but what about that some what jammy crouch goal at city 2010 for CL? 'Spursy' would have been kaboul at the wrong end knocking it off crouch not the other way around. Luck comes both ways. It does not favor or discriminate.

Spursy doesn't bother me, sums up our often uncanny knack of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Hopefully with Poch and the squad being so positive we'll be using it less and less in time.

Sol.
Now that's a word I could live without ever hearing again...
