If he wants more than we can pay, sell him, we need to realise where we are right now in the scheme of things. I'm not going to post again the amounts of income the likes of United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea have not to mention Liverpool have at their disposal. If you can't understand or simply don't want to understand your supporting the wrong team I'm afraid.

Pay him the money already. He is a bloody rock at the back for us and him and Verts work so well together. Great for Sanchez, Foyth and the other young players to learn from

He's in it for the cash, he's a top rate defender but he shafted Southampton and trust me even if we signed him up to a longer term contract he will shaft us if a top club comes in.

I’m not expecting loyalty for the rest of his career. He isn’t early in his career anymore and is one of the very best defenders in the Prem if not Europe. If he wants to stay and we can afford it pay him then he should be an equal top earner at the club. If he leaves as long as we get top dollar for him I can live with that. For me he is worth the same wages as Lloris and Kane.

Agree but from what I read he wants more. If so, what really does he want us to do?

Agree. Don't think he holds any loyalties to us and would even join a Chelsea if they offered him 200k a week.

If he's gonna go, make it abroad.

IMO, Toby and Verts are great because they play together. Either one of the playing without the other do take away some of their capabilities. We must make them both happy.

Plus Sanchez, we have probably the best back 3. We have to keep that.

Didn't think it was the money that was a issue it was the release clause he wanted that Danny didn't like and that was the sticking point ?

Might be wrong though.

I think that he has to be realistic with what he wants from us. We are not going to pay him 200k a week, there are clubs where he can get that. But ultimately if he wants to go then so be it. We can only pay him what we can afford. I believe that once we are in the new stadium then things will drastically change from a financial level and I am certain that the players and staff know this.

It tells me that's why we spent alot on sanchez to give him a good chance to be ready for when Toby goes in the summer haha
At least it was forward thinking I guess

Yeah the only reason a player wants a buy out clause do that when a top tier club comes in for him he has a much better chance of getting a move.

About the only reason that makes sense that I can see.

Otherwise you would just take the big pay rise surely?

Both seem to think he wants out, though. Just differ on the reason, it seems.

We have to do everything to keep him.

Worth every bit of 120k. All our top performers should be on that now as minimum.

He agreed in summer a contract verbally, then stalled. I personally believe we will sell him end of season, as he is showing no inclination of staying. And it is not about the money now, but about trophies etc. At his age you can understand.
