so a bit of at least 50% dodgy itk?
yakster:Toby - been told.on good authority He wants out in the summer as he wants 120k per week
BEN: Not true that's not issue totally wrong

dragon1: yaks talking nonsense im sorry
the main sticking point is he wants another release clause, we are not far apart on wages, but he has 2.5 years left and we will be handing a load of new deals out once in the new gaffe, no player has ever left spurs over wages under levy and im no fan of his, the contract will probably be sorted out next summer or early next season

BEN: the release clause is the issue he and his team adamant on it and its 22 million no way we will agree to it and be held to ransom

just pay him more in hope of convincing them to give up the release clause...

Give him a new contract. He can even have a buyout clause if he wishes. One that becomes effective in, let's say 5 years time.

He'll be nearly 34 then. I'd take £22 million for him then. Lovely.

I can believe it about the release clause. It's been the rumoured sticking point for quite a while.

Thing is, if it is a new release clause in say 3/4 years time. £20 odd million might be a good fee for him given his age and the injuries he's had in the last couple of years.

Hmmm his agent must know in the current climate £22m release clause is unreasonable, sounds to me they’re using that as excuse to force an exit

Sadly predictable break up of another good squad with no trophies to show for it. Will be another 5 years before we may see the cycle turn.

If Rose and Toby go you should expect Hugo, Dele and Dier all to jump ship.

We are a selling club with a small club mentality, the players see this and all those with a better option seem to want to take it ASAP.

You didn't post in the match thread last night. Did you go? Or was it because there was no opportunity to be negative? :D

If his new contract is like his current one then I suspect they want the release clause in the penultimate year. Would that be so bad? He'll be getting on and has had 2 big injuries in the last year. If the hamstring injury is on the same leg as that strange injury last year, then maybe there's an underlying problem with that leg now? That's only going to get worse and not better.

Injury last year was a nerve injury in his knee. ( Verts caused it )

Thigh. Was it the same leg as this hamstring injury? Don't think it's ever been revealed.
Definitely his knee

Toby quote “It was an unusual injury, one in a million. It almost never happens in football. I got a hard knock on the nerve on the right side of my knee, so the nerve was shut down. All of my leg was shut down.“

Looking at the picture he’s holding the right knee

Were aren't an elite club, that wont change overnight either accept that or you will continue to be a miserable sod. Toby wants a release clause so that if an elite club comes in for him he can go.

With our current team, training facility, and starting next season with our new stadium. What else do we require to become an Elite Club. Possibly trophies? Either way we can’t sell our best players if we want to take the step to elite level.

Yeah we have great foundations but until we start winning things regularly, even when United were "shit" over the last 3-4 season they have still won what 3-4 competitions. We also aren't competing financially yet and there is no point saying we are. Unfortunately we simply cannot compete with the likes of United, City, Chelsea never financially and it will take a few seasons in the new stadium before we can. Some figures from the 2015 season.

Arsenal
Income
Gate and match-day income £100m; TV and broadcasting £125m; Commercial £104m

Chelsea
Income
Match-day income £71m; TV and broadcasting £136m; Commercial £113m

Liverpool
Income
Gate and match-day income £59m; TV and broadcasting £123m; Commercial £116m

City
Income
Gate and match-day income £43m; TV and broadcasting, other £136m; Commercial £173m

United
Income
Gate and match-day income £91m; TV and broadcasting £108m; Commercial £197m

Tottenham
Income
Match-day income £41m; TV and broadcasting £91m; Commercial £60m

When you look at those figures its actually astounding how competitive we are. Now clearly our match day income will double but where we need major growth is commercially which again the stadium will help with but it wont be overnight.

Can you tell me what Levy is supposed to do with the Toby situation, because it absolutely baffles me the attitude some members on here have. He wants more money with a release clause, that's the general feeling. Say Levy gave him it and United or City come in and activate his release clause in January he will be gone, we wont benefit.

It always comes down to money. You pay Toby what he’s worth and buy a couple more top players for next years campaign to show real ambition to win trophies, then I can assure you Toby would not be concerned about a release clause in his contract.

Let’s see how this pans out... but any player looking to leave us on the grand opening of new stadium needs their head examined.

However if we move to the new stadium and Levy is still not paying players what the Ars scum down the road pay then eventually these players will probably leave.

If City or United came in for him do you really think he wouldn't go? I get the new stadium may influence some players, but potentially having a Premier League winner medal in your trophy carbonate or the "I was there the season Spurs moved to a new stadium" medal I'm pretty sure most would choose the first one.

I would say Levy will want to make a statement in the summer that we can still be competitive in the transfer market even with the new stadium. Hopefully our wage structure will increase, but we still wont be able to offer the wages United or City cant offer.

It all essentially goes together. We go into every season with at least one glaring gap in the squad that we fail to even attempt to rectify.

Although it has taken a while to come to fruition, you simply cannot label City and United with that criticism.

As long as we start every season with a hole in the squad or relying on an unproven cheap punt to come good immediately, the players at the club such as Rose are not fooled. They correctly interpret it as a lack of ambition.

Finish in the top four this season and maybe even win the FA cup and secure a striker and winger before the World Cup and all the players will happily sign new contracts.

At this stage in their careers the players want the club to make a proper go of it or they will quite righty take matters into their own hands by moving on.

I totally agree, but we aren't comparable to United or City so of course we cant label them the same, they basically have unlimited resources. This whole secure an established goal scoring striker.... Ok, I will bite, who could we get to sit the majority of the season on the bench and maybe play a bit part in the lesser competitions? Listen to what Morata told Poch and you will see why its not easy. Also this winger talk, when did we last play with wingers, when we need is creativity in the middle to mix it up with Eriksen?

How do you know all the players will sign new contracts with a top 4 finish and an FA Cup?

That’s where we’re at but if we haven’t got the money to invest in quality players we can’t just magic it up from nowhere and we’ll carry on the same, build a good team with a few standout players that eventually get picked off when we can’t push on enough to win things and then start the process over again
