Fair enough, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I can't recall ever watching a game from him and thinking, "wow he's been poor" or "wow that was a poor mistake." Good tackler, decent passer, good work ethic, good pace, and good aggression. If you could couple his well-roundedness with Paulinho's remarkable ability to find space in the box, you'd have a hellacious box to box central midfielder.
He used to have very sloppy games and his decision making was poor overall in my experience. Could be very good with the right manager though for sure,

Uh-oh, that's 3. Will be 5 or 6 here now.

Scum could well win the fa cup again and is likely to get 4th. Their scummy fans will be happy with that.

A Capoue loan may not be the worst idea for them in truth, someone to light a fire under Sanchez' ass because I agree, his passing has been atrocious and careless in this one.

Capoue would walk into their lineup at this point, head and shoulders a better player than Sanchez in every aspect of the game...

this villa team surely is going down, aren't they?

Depends on who figures it out between Hull and Villa, and in truth they're both very fortunate that this year's climbers are all really shitty. Only one I see having a legitimate chance is Burnley, as they've shown some real fight and belief.

Yeah "fire under ass" isn't to imply he'd be second fiddle to him, but to put some motivation into a player because it's quite clear Sanchez knows damn well he's got no competition and nothing to lose, and could be useful for future motivation. Pathetic work ethic from him today.

We will tear them a new one next week.

PS .. Never a pen. Should have saved it anyway. Villa down and out.

Says it all when Sanchez' replacement is Westwood, who is hardly a defensive mid.

I have watch Sanchez a couple times now....i don't know that he isn't motivated or that he just simply isn't a good enough player for anyone in the PL....he has a truly, truly poor work ethic on the pitch, seems to lack technique and looks utterly lost positioning himself defensively....i would say they are better off selling him but i don't know that there is a big market for a slow footed, ill-disciplined, lazy DM even at the levels below the PL....

It looks like there are 16 players on the pitch for Arse against 7 for Villa.....

Villa have no organization defensively, and seem in no way to inclined to actually defend

I genuinely can't believe anyone could watch Villa and not think a manager change would do them good.

I've been impressed with him in the chances I've watched Colombia, but I think that may have to do with how well they can press as a unit. But his dispersal is decently solid, he just does not do well enough in covering gaps as they open. He's also gotten much worse as the season's progressed to my eyes (I have a soft spot for Villa, so have watched them whenever I've had the chance). I don't know why Lambert seems to abandon the middle and therefore disconnects Benteke so much with a laughable interpretation of the 4-3-3, but their possession in the final third is embarrassing. I think Capoue might be good for them in his ability to shore up defense, and with his passing range he could better pick out Gil or even Benteke, and furthermore possibly allow Delph more freedom to get forward.
