Great result, just have to beat the scum next week and we could possibly move up to 4th... Oh but the Saints only have to play QPR :meh:

Swansea did us a small favour today. Just hope Ivory Coast do us the other by beating Algeria.

Of course if we don't beat Arsenal we could suddenly find ourselves 7th.
Tough at the top.
But hey, at least premier league status is secure with our 40pts in the bag.

Tbf we will have to play our of our skins consistently between now and the end of the season to get a spot through the league.

Not putting my head in that place, as reality is unlikely to follow.

Carroll was very, very good today.

Still hope he comes back to figure in our squad next season.

Excellent experience for him at Swansea.

he was better second half but wasnt at the races first half , although neither were Swansea tbf, i would'nt have said he was very very good, grew into the game but still looked timid, uncomfortable at times, confidence wise he is still miles behind Nabil, i cant put my finger on it but something is missing with his game.

Only saw the last 60 mins tbf, was very good imo.

Love the way he plays.

He's still quiet waif-like and needs to strengthen and do what Eriksen has done with his mentality. That's all that's missing.

Think of him as 'oil'...he oils a team.

I like Tom but think we have a better version in Bentaleb, for us to progress with a guy like Carroll in a CM2 we would need a decent DM and for Carroll to be more progressive with his passing, thought he was too sideways today, bar the little jinking run that started the goal move, he needs a dynamic edge to his game, maybe that comes with confidence.

Exactly...I see tom as an attacking midfield utility who can play next to a strong CM2 partner who sits, and be progressive, in a 3 (when poch thinks we're solid enough in 4231 and ventures there) or as a #10.

I think Bentaleb will develop and strengthen and stambo's game will keep developing in the prem.

Anyway...

JJ + RTegan on Carroll:

ryantegan: have you heard anything about selling Carroll as well?

jetsetyid: we don't want to

Yeah ive just seen that in the ITK thread, Carroll is currently third string imo, to be honest i would rather we went for a more tenacious but similar version in Clasie.
