I don't get that argument at all, Everton aren't exactly Stoke and you see countless players of a slight frame play well in the league.. Even on the bench would suffice as an option.

Just don't want to see 4 defensive mids and 3 defenders on the bench

From what I have been he is a very good player, but he does tend to get shielded of the ball pretty easily. As it is we are getting overrun in the middle almost every game since Sandro was injured and my concern is that he cannot contribute defensively. Be glad to be proven wrong.

Yeah I guess it's not the time to be throwing a largely unproven player into the mix when chasing top 4. I just can't stomach seeing another anonymous performance from Clint. Seems a nice guy with a good attitude... Just with a poor footballing ability

Agree on Clint, however we have seen some pretty lacklustre players explode on to the scene in our time of need. Remember Krancjar in 09/10. Perhaps Dempsey, Gylfi og Lewis can pull of something equivelant ...

P.s. if, and this is a big IF, Dempsey does not produce the goods he can f*ck right off. The others can stay...still young, potential bl.a bl.a ...

So... (no-one has asked on this page...)

Does anyone know if Andros can be recalled?

Dempsey2 is definitely not a Spurs fan - Even he can't continuous defend Dempsey. Like I said he seems a good guy with the 'right' attitude he just doesn't possess a good enough footballing ability for our club.

Just back to the hotel after the game . It cost me 190 quid to get there without counting what I spent on food and drink. I'm depressed :-(

Dunno. In that ballpark though I think. I remember there being a few thousand knocked off the attendances when we got into the CL for example. The first time I'd ever heard about it tbh. Someone started a thread because a mate of theirs - could well have been a Spam mate at that - was taking the piss out of thousands of empty seats for a CL match which, was patent bollocks obviously. Any seat that could be taken was so. It's not like we'd been waiting 50 yrs for the chance or anything.

Watching it on the goggle box anyway, there certainly weren't blocks of empty seats or even visible little clusters. Looked pretty dang full to me.

Block J was virtually empty, and there were a couple of other pockets of empty seats up in the corners. If ITV had the low camera angle then they probably wouldn't have shown up much.

On another note, I'll reiterate what I said before in that our home crowd have been shown up several times this campaign and considering this was a European quarter final, you'd think by our crowd it was a July time friendly!

Really not good enough and deserve criticism.

It wasn't amazing, but it certainly wasn't the worst crowd this season. Basel fans weren't exactly wonderful all night. They made quite a lot of noise when they did, but they were silent for huge chunks of the game. Which is a shame, as when both sets of fans were at it in the first few minutes it sounded like it could have been a stonking atmosphere.

What most annoyed me the most was the continual sniping of certain players by individuals in the crowd. I'm sure no one needs to guess that Adebayor and Gallas were the main targets of abuse. Prime example was the dickhead two seats to my left in Block 33. A few tidbits;

When Gallas was fouled early on in the first half and went down; "Good. Get him off, he's a waste of fucking space." Every misplaced pass to Adebayor was obviously his fault. Then had a go at Gallas for the second goal when it was Naughton who lost the guy who scored and Brad who should have done better (although he may have been unsighted). When Gallas went off; "Fuck off. He'll do as much off the pitch as Adebayor has." I'll have to check, but I don't think Gallas scored after he went off injured. The most galling part was that, having slagged Adebayor off the whole of the first half, when he actually scored, to save face this **** didn't even applaud. When you've set your marker for which players you hate you obviously can't show them any kind of support or encouragement. God forbid we actually get behind the team, rather than just the players we approve of. None of our players who have never played for Arsenal received this 'special' treatment, however bad they may have been. If Adebayor had missed Scott Parker's open goal I suspect he'd still be raging now.

I had Alfiespurs and WSussexyid stood behind me. Two upstanding brilliant supporters they were. Everything was shit even the goals. I am gonna wear earplugs on Sunday.

Am I the only one who thinks we will do them in Switzerland? (oh sorry I forgot optimism is banned on here)
Nup. Said as much myself, whilst the game was carrying on. We were dogshit, they were excellent. After all that, it's 2-2.

I did say that before Bale got knackered but I still remain reasonably confident. Would very much like it if Lloris played from here on out however.
