Had it not been for the massive dragging of heels our summer signings would have been a LOT more acceptable and sensible. Levy panicked when he got it wrong and realised what the consequences were going to be, think about it, how Levylike is it for him to make a last minute signing and STILL pay over the top? Its completely against type. He shat himself.

And Poch stated he wanted his summer dealings done early..........Things weren't right at chez lane

I still say that it wouldn't surprise me if we were looking for a new manager come the end of the season.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I actually think we definitely could and should have spent money much more wisely this summer.

I could defend it if we were clearly operating a inherent value - buy potential, develop - strategy, but to then go and piss 30m up the wall on Sissoko blew that notion out of the water, leaving me wondering why we didn't just spend the 60m we spent on Sissoko, Nkoudou and Janssen combined on someone like Lacazette who could have virtually filled all those remits with more class than the players we spent it on and for 60m GBP we could have probably got Lacazette and Fekir.

But what I'd like to know is who you think we dragged heels in and missed ?

For my part I believe we could have got O Dembele if we'd shown enough desire and I know players like Lacazette, Fekir, Gotze, Schurrle, Tolisso and others like Boufal who even if I have my doubts about suitability, made better footballing and financial sense than Sissoko.

But who do you think we actually missed out on?

And do you honestly believe Levy spent 30m on Sissoko without Poch's knowledge or requesting him? That's stretching credibility somewhat isn't it?

Still think we will get out of the group.Maybe most Spurs fans think im on crack with the way we have been playing but every team will have a bad run and we are having one now.

Depends on how the international break goes for us. Really hoping the English players don't get picked just so they can have 2 weeks off to decompress ( plus I am not a fan of the national team ;)) if we can get the players back injury free we might have a chance against Monaco away. Also gotcha watch for that West Ham game on Saturday following international week

I've posted elsewhere asking what happened about Dembele?

I only saw the last ten minutes of the first half, we looked really good. what happened in the other 80 minutes?
Believe me, the last ten minutes of the first half were not very good, just not as frustrating as the previous 35 minutes. The start of the game set the tone for the rest.

Being a spurs fan means being a bit of a delusional optimist, right?

I've now convinced myself that our terrible CL run is going to be a blessing in disguise and that we will win the europa this year

Rory K Smith did a piece in the NY Times recently saying that basically ODembele was made to feel more wanted by Dortmund. He didn't want to go somewhere like an uber club and end not playing, he did some research (apparently using things like Football Manager) and identified Dortmund as a team that give young players a chance. His fee was small because he had a stupid buy-out and his wage demands were much less than I imagine Sissoko's are, and we are also a club with a young average age, I think if we'd really pursued him hard we were in wth a genuine shout.

We're talking about two different players, I think. I meant Dembele at Celtic.

That scenario would make me extremely happy.

Watch Dier's freekick again. Seriously he should have been all over that rebound and instead it got lost somwhere between his feet, and not for the first time either.
If you read my posts I've always supported him, but in light of our absolute goal drought, we have to look to strikers to be able to create something out of nothing - like Kane.
I know he is learning and I hope it happens for him sooner rather than later, but for now he is the fastest in the league, we have 60% possession per game and have not scored from open play in what 4 games? That is how bad it is!
The thing is that he dummied the free kick and was still arriving in the box when the ball came at him. At least he was in position. The time we had the ball in the net was due to him, and I don't think that it was a foul.
