TBH I think if this match happened 3 months ago it wouldn't have been this discouraging. Would have been much closer IMO.
We threw it away in the 1st game, no intensity no aggression no way near our 1st 11. That was because the Premer League ended up being our priority. Dortmund are second but not within a sniff of winning their League so they are all up for winning the Europa.
Upgrade on Chadli, a second good striker and world class cover for Dier would see us right. We are not that far off.
Not that far off??? Did you watch the two games?? We were totally outclassed in every department. We are nowhere near. Why do football fans always grossly over rate their own players? Apart from our goal - which was a gift - we didn't get a single shot on target in either leg !!! That's 180 minutes without a shot on target, and you say we are not that far off? LOL

Did you bother reading the rest of what I wrote? Just picking and choosing to fit your argument?!

They were genuinely quality. Power pace technique and technique in abundance. Really, really impressive.

Can't help but feel slightly cheated that we never got to see the real Spurs test ourselves against them tbh.
It was a case of keeping our powder dry and choosing our battles.

Yes I read all of it, doesn't change the fact that we were totally outclassed and need 3 world class players to get anywhere near Dortmund.

Well done Poch. Nice way to end the season, allowing important team players to get injured in a pointless game when the league was waiting for us... Sigh. We never learn. Balls over brain wins again!

With the international break coming up. Hmmmmm

I enjoyed tonight after 70 minutes when the moaners behind me decided they'd had enough of moaning every time we did anything. We really do have some terrible fans.

Dortmund didn't shame us on the pitch, it was off the pitch we were largely out to shame. Their fans were great (those moaning about the drums are bonkers) and the players coming over and sinning and dancing to the chants at the end followed by climbing in to high five the fans was something to behold. Class club.

Side note: Spurs drummer wasn't banned. He was found to have been entering for years without a ticket.

We seemed scared to lose the ball, because we knew what would happen. Our passing in both games has been poor. Chadli and Mason were particularly poor.

Not sure how this specifically relates to my post, but I agree. Probably because they were in a line-up not dissimilar to one that was deemed suitable to face Colchester in the cup (with the notable exception of our only striker):

Vorm, Trippier, Dier, Wimmer, Davies, Bentaleb, Carroll, Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Kane

We played two better players tonight with Lloris and Alderweireld, but rested two of the strongest players in that Colchester line-up in the shape of Eriksen and Kane. Sums up how seriously we took the tie.

So all the things you pick at over the 2 legs would be cured with 3 world class players?
Come on mate. We played a weak side in Dortmund and had nothing to play for today. Did we play our first 11 in any of the games?
This the same Dortmund team that finished7th last season and were bottom in December?!
We are 2nd in the premier league in a shout of winning for the first time in over 50 years. You wanted Poch to sacrifice that so we could beat Dortmund?
Half of their squad came from the youth squads and they have become world class over a number of years together. We are only in year 2 of our Poch era.
We don't have the squad. Yes we got outclassed but I'd rather go for the Premier League than burn out for the Europa.

Back from the game and to be honest I'm not that fussed, we obviously weren't going to win the tie but didn't want to lose the game just that the side we put out wasn't enough to do that.
They are bloody good and we will only have any chance of beating them with our best side out, we know that now which may come in handy next season.
I'm a bit ambiguous about their fans to be honest, it was all very organised, most of the noise was from the drum and the megaphone wielding cheerleaders kept them all going, if we play them next year we should ban the drum, that might help.

I used to think I would love that kind of support at the lane but I found it boring and repetitive. Each to their own of course and anything is better that the tuts and shittyness the lane has, sometimes.

Well, I enjoyed being at the Lane tonight. Right to the very end. Thought we played okay, too. Just a bit toothless which is hardly a surprise.

Dortmund are where we are aiming to get. Couldn't get a better look at what it's gonna take than these ties.

I was tempted to leave at half time! Do you not think it's ridiculous how we're expected to compete with the drums and megaphones? We made some good noise before they scored but then it seemed that the majority of fans sort of lost the will to live after that. Like I said in my previous post, I wouldn't normally condone leaving early but tonight was just one big write off, especially with the trains being fucked.

To top it all off I managed to get ketchup all down my Spurs top before the match when the bottle decided to explode! Get me home.
Sorry, hope you get it washed!
I thought our fans were in really good voice - great to hear especially those who stayed down the Park and Shelf.
The heavy first leg defeat set us up for disappointment but it was good to see us compete with a great team tonight.

You know those games this season where the opposition fans and manager say we had an off day. But really we know it's because we pressed the shit out of them?

Well we got a taste of our own medicene tonight.

It's nothing major but more misery on top of what was already a very frustrating night and I just think some people on here need to keep their comments about those leaving early to themselves, especially if they didn't go. I've been unemployed for 5 months and I make a lot of sacrifices to go to Spurs; I was at villa on Sunday and I was there tonight even though money is tight and the tie was already lost, so to hear people tell me I'm a shit fan or whatever is laughable but each to their own.

This was not directed just at you Khilari btw.

Would have been interesting to see how our first eleven fared against them but pleased that we've rested some key players for the more important games.

Dortmund are a good side and tidy club. Always liked them -- my favourite German team as of today -- hope they win the thing. Another positive I take from this tie is that Dortmund are a better side than they were under Liverpool's manager.

Dortmund are a very technical, clinical side. They are where we're aiming to be.

We can solely focus on trying to get automatic CL qualification now and take an important step towards becoming what they are.
