Can someone explain to me why when Delle scored he did not celebrate his goal? There must be something wrong there!!!
I don't think there's anything to worry about there. I put it down to two factors:

1 - we were so dominant that it felt like going through the motions was kind of like scoring the 5th goal in a rout or a training ground goal.

2 - it was a very scrappy/easy 5yard tap in with loads of people around him.

Let's hope you're right.

Struggling to see how pace would've made any difference against 10 Burnley players camping in their own area.

Woods posed a threat almost instant after coming on. No surprise that he nicked the points from us. Poor defending..

NOT read the whole thread but I think Kane was at fault for their goal, wtf was he doing trying a dodgy pass in injury time when he should have gone into the corner and killed time. Some poor decision making throughout the game today and Eriksen has been sussed out by other teams. Need a rethink

That's what I was thinking at the time. Looking at the replay it would have been a nice goal but we had a goal and a win almost wrapped up and it would have been a big one. Now this isn't an attempt to throw negativity on Kane, I'd just hope in the same position again he'd take the safer option.

Lol. You were watching a different game. If they were "Streaming forward in numbers" we would have torn them apart.

They could and should have scored a couple of goals in the last 15 mins or so. They were destroying us down our right hand side and we could neither get back control of the game nor force them back.

We seemed to forget how to keep the ball in the last 10 minutes, silly decisions which meant the ball just wasn't sticking when we moved up the pitch, inviting wave after wave of Burnley attacks. Why we just didn't keep hold of the ball is beyond me.

Again Hugo's kicking was terrible, Dele was poor but his knack of getting a goal can seriously cloud people judgement of his game.

Had a chance to sleep on it. Feels like a defeat when you lose a goal so late in the game, but I am confident, confident in this team and confident that we'll get it right. Were playing 38 away games this season in the league, we have to give the players some leeway.

In August?

They've played no one yet, nor has fatigue, Europe or injuries kicked in

No one is favourites for nothing till after Christmas
But their bench is stronger than ours and stronger than last year and they managed to keep going until they won the EL I know it's only August but Europe will really stretch us a lot more than Utd and with our squad a couple of injuries and maybe Rose leaving will leave us very vunerable. If we do get anyone else in at this late stage is more likely to be a panic buy and probably not top class for what we need to strengthen our squad. Just my opinion I may be totally wrong and I hope I am but it's how I see it.

Of course their bench is stronger than ours, they are one of the biggest and well financed clubs in world football.
They can afford to pay players 100-150kpw to sit on their bench...we can't.

We need to work on making Wembley more compact, the extra size and with us being at home means we will have lots of possession, the difference being when we do lose the ball and our full / wing backs are all the way up the pitch we are leaving way more space in behind, especially as the CMs who usually protect these gaps are also further up the pitch.

We are really going to struggle against the counter attack until we get a little more use to the pitch and until Aurier (hopefully signs) and Rose returns with Sanchez hopefully being at the back, as currently with Toby, Verts, Trip and Davies with have very very average pace at the back. Which would be fine if we were a team that sat back and had pace to be set up as a counter attack team, but we don't and that's the issue right now.

Well, that and a lot of our big players not really stepping up or showing maturity to see out a game. It will come, albeit a massively frustrating start to the season. Think i'll likely prefer our away games this year.

Ya. Constantly giving the ball away and playing like the game was already won was great. Could have easily happened against Newcastle and happened a lot two seasons ago. Thought we had fixed that problem last season but clearly not.

Because we were trying to go for the 2nd goal and pushing up rather than running the clock down - something that you wished for against Newcastle but we did the total opposite yesterday - have a look at where our midfield was and how high our defensive line was when we conceded that goal for example.

We gave up chances sitting back against ten men Newcastle as well. Something we often do when he sit back because we aren't good at defending like that. We lost the ball 90 yards from our goal with only three players in Burnley's final third. Bad defending lead the their equaliser and a failure to take our chances 10-15 minutes beforehand. Going for a second had very little to do with it.

I can remember many games where we've sat back and protected leads, there's been many games where we've been under the cosh and constantly repelled attacks. The bolded part is exactly my point, have a look at where our midfielders and defenders are when Burnley go on the attack, midfield is non existent and our defensive line is too high. There's a post from @Bus-Conductor where he's screen grabbed the defensive positioning in the ratings thread, that's a result of us pushing up and not seeing the match out like we should have done.

Really disappointed that we didnt win yesterday. We didnt play very well, specially in first half.
The fact that we are not able to kill the game of(with the huge chances in second half) or atleast secure the 3 points, makes me worried.
Get Aurier in. Get Barkley in.
I have no time for the "wembley myth" nonsense. Just need to get our shit togehter. And trippier needs to start using his head.

After a day of cooling down, the area of concern is really down to being more clinical in front of opposition goal mouth..

We were creating chances in our games, but we are not scoring them.. That was a concern for me so far in all 3 games so far, even in the win against Newcastle. Kane maybe is hitting a patch at the moment but he gotta be firing all cylinders soon.. But he is the one we all should be least worried about.. Scoring those opportunities we saw in our last 2 matches, we would have win, based on hindsight.

But more importantly, another matter of concern is I think all opposition teams this season in the league will play the way chelscum and burnley did, closing us down and denying us passages to pass forward.. I still hold by my word even teams like Manure and Citeh will be doing that even though supposedly they are a 'superior' team based on results so far.. But a team in liverfool is really what we should be worried base on the pace present in that team alone.

In short, while possession football looks 'superior' on statistics, I hope Poch evolves his tactics further this season to look beyond a possession based approach, but probably playing even more direct and/or counter-attacking football to counteract what teams has been finding us out from last season..
