Cheers.

Was only using it as a lighthearted example of how harsh people can be before a ball is even kicked.

And lets be honest people would of moaned over any line up picked.
Perhaps I was being slightly over the top but my pre-match concerns were very valid and raised by many on here.

Everton's core is very strong and they dominate a lot of teams through it, on paper, which at the time was all I had to go on... It was a mismatch.

Difference was our players put in heroic shifts which based on all prior evidence... Was unexpected.

No hard feelings @Mr Pink ... Man flu is making me a right grumpy ****

There is no sensible reason to change this team until it shows signs of struggling......hopefully it wont. I know it's only one game but it's important to the players that they all get a run and keep the confidence going. If you start to tweak positions and players it could backfire.
There were 11 giants out there today unlike the "little girls" we have seen playing in a Spurs shirt in recent weeks.

I.... like most on here...... were really impressed today with the performance more than the result and the points were a bonus.

I would also say not to change it up but considering who out next opponents are, I think the young boys Mason and Bentaleb may struggle a bit. Not that we should expect anything from that match but our best chance may not be with the same lineup as today.

Not for me it wasn't. If people had actually thought about it a bit more before overreacting it actually made sense. A team with far more chance of putting in the effort and fighting for the cause - instead of the languid coasters.

I said as much to when the teams were announced.

I have burger relish in my hair, make-up smeared over my face from getting over-emotional when Soldado scored and may have broken a toe kicking the chair in front of me. Today was freakin' awesome.

I picked a damn good day to go to my first match of the season.

You can't ask for more than today. Thanks boys. And who would have thought that OUR defence could keep Lukaku so quiet?

I fully expect changes for Chelsea but somehow, I don't think that will have a negative effect on the team. It feels like there's been a 'sea change' moment where everything has clicked. Long may it continue.

Don't mind but this is a message board and it's my pet peeve people who pull up PRE match observations to use as some means of someone look a tit.

I already off my back held my hands up and I gladly ate humble pie.

If this trend continued no-one would bother with pre-match debates and it'd be full of unambiguous, fence-sitting statements.

I was only messing in my reply but it had a whiff of truth / my opinion / my roast about it. I suppose I see things slightly differently, I don't think people should plough into a matchday thread and beat their chest about how crap something is and not expect to be pulled up about it if the were proven to be wrong. People do need to re assess their opinions and knowing they got something wrong will help do that hopefully. Some people just like a proper whinge and a moan and it's not actually good for debate or for the website.

I also don't agree with the whole "if there wasn't a difference of opinions then the world would implode" argument. As I feel this is more often than not used as an excuse to justify a certain type of behaviour (not to dissimilar to the press hiding behind freedom of speech / source protection rules). Reasoned debate would improve the matchday thread completely, but people don't think like that, they're going to react and they're going to react with extreme words, which reflects how they feel. It's these types of responses that actually kill the thread.

It may be a match too far for Bentaleb, with him just coming back from injury and saying that he gave everything he had. Must be knackered. I'd expect Stambouli (completely rested today) or Dembele to come in.

I posted in the match thread earlier that i thought it would be an Everton win, i'm not usually part of the doom and gloom group and i don't think even the most ardent Poch fan expected us to put in a performance like that, especially since our form at home has been shit and there was really no inkling that we would suddenly turn up the way we did.
Its most welcome but its certainly overdue also.

I know people want the same team but it might be a match too far for Kane too, i would rest both for CP and play a middle 3 against Chelsea, if Dier has too go up against Hazard he's in some serious dodo, sending off type dodo, give the lad some extra support out wide.

Did you think we were going to lose because of the team selection? I can't honestly recall how I felt. In fact I suspect I may have learnt to turn this side of my brain off before a game (perhaps this is the way forward). Of course when I saw the team I had a feeling; and that was that I liked the look of the team, but I didn't have a good or a bad feeling about how it would pan out, which could be seen as strange.

I personally saw them play together against Kingstonian about 3 years ago...

Bentaleb joined in 2012 mason was at Leyton orient and Swindon. I'm sure they have spent 100s of games getting to know each other. Hence Bentaleb interview ion Thursday where he said they haven't played together

No, my opinion was pre selection, much earlier on, i tend not to comment at all on the team after its posted, i was ok with the team when i saw the Sky lineup as i felt we needed to change something up, even the inclusion of Lennon over Lamela i was in favour of, which is odd for me.

I think that performance sets a bench mark. In future if you want to be in the team that has got to be the level the players have to reach.

Will be interesting if the players not involved today are able to respond and raise their game.

Actually thinking about it I looked at the table in the morning and thought "if we win we'll go up to 7th".. then cut myself off and told myself to shut up because I didn't want to get ahead of myself.

I was a little worried that Poch changed the team again, not because I disagreed but because I knew that was a potential stick to beat him with.

I suspect negative feelings (whether obvious or subconsciously) pre game have a knock on affect regarding the atmosphere so it was good that the fans managed to overturn that today. Obviously the players being up for it and energetic from the start helped give the fans something to hold onto.

I said it would be 3-0, but I was just trying to be a bit more positive than the other posters at the time. The amazing thing about youth is their capacity to not care. Not care about the so called 'establishment' and not care about other team's reputations. Most importantly they don't care about working hard to win. Mason and bentaleb were great. So was kane. Hard working and courageous. COYS!!

The first 45 minutes were a joy to behold. For the first time this season it actually looked like the players were playing for the team, for the manager and for the shirt. A corner has been turned, I feel.

If it was united or an arsenal sure.

But mourhinos Chelsea....flukey point at best unless they go a man down which is possible with poch bribing refs with freshly backed puddings

What are these specially BACKED puddings of which you speak?

Finally sat on my sofa having a cuppa (from my extra large Spurs mug, naturally) and I am absolutely delighted. That was what I want to see when I go to the Lane and just as important it was what I want to hear as well. The crowd and team were both immense - it's almost as though there's a positive correlation there...

Everyone was quality but a massive shout out to Bentaleb in particular who was everything our midfield has been missing. The way he took his teammates and the match by the scruff of the neck was a joy to see. You can tell he and Mason are used to playing together as well.

Harry's out on the town tonight i see....
