This self-deprecation would usually expand my confidence but after West Ham fans were saying that they were going to be thrashed and we lost 0-3, I no longer believe in feeding off the negativity of opposition fans

No Jaaskaleinnen,.... Hull is to be put to the sword today,... 3-0 should be a fair reflection of the gap between these teams... don't look back! (y) (bring back the clapping smilie)

I think we will and should win comfortably but people(mainly those that post trash in the match thread) need to be patient if we don't get an early goal.

We should be used to the fact that poorer teams now play very deep against us with a bank of four and six. So its tough to break them down unless they come at us.

There may well be a gulf in class on paper between the two sides but that don't mean shit when they all sit behind the ball.
Fingers crossed we get an early goal but if not don't get ur knickers in a twist and start spouting nonsense in the match thread....patience!

Having to say the same things every game now:

1. High tempo/quick thinking

2. Movement off the ball

Please.

YiddoInPoland

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

We either get a clue about both of those or just forget about it imo. That's the foundation to any sort of success in this league. No intensity, no glory.

I think they tie together, intensity breads movement and vice versa, which is why we look so slow in the build up. Which is a massive shame as most of our goals this season have come when we shifted the pace and actually "Ran about a bit"

YiddoInPoland and thinktank you two have hit the nail on the head.

More movement off the ball and quicker thinking all round will do us a world of good. We have the ability to keep possession now we need to start doing something with the ball and players we have at our disposal. Soldado is used to a high tempo style of play from his Valencia stint so he needs this kind of play to be effective. So does Siggurdson, Holtby and Eriksen but those three are generally the players trying to up the tempo themselves so I can't fault them here. A lot of our mistakes have come from complacency on the ball.

AVB thinks Tottenham should hog the ball like Gollum does 'The preeeeeccccciiioooouuuussssss'.

No giving the ball away for even a second!

Here's hoping today is the day we "click". It is a bit chicken and egg with our problems starting with ponderous build up from the centre halves but perhaps that is because there is no movement in to space ahead of them. Even if we can't get this mojo what there is no excuse for is not maintaining a press high up the pitch, if we can win the ball in the opposition third then it will spur us to quicker attacking play.

I want them all to show the kind of movement and desire to receive the ball, that Lamela does. Regardless of how hit/miss he's been thus far, his attitude is exemplary imo.

We have people dedicated to supporting mediocre players here - because they 'give it some' and have 'heart'. But when we have a real diamond with extreme technical ability who just needs to find his feet, but is still working his tits off to help create something, we're all over him for not being messi.

Just bizarre. I don't get it.

And he better fucking start today, AVB, or I'm gonna have to start saying that you're mismanaging his integration.

I'm starting to get uber frustrated, must be honest. AVB needs to really start showing what he can do now.

We need to rage today; as long as I see 'fast and furious' I'll be happy.

Word of the day: Desire.

Whilst I agree with what you say. Lower teams play the same against Arse chelscum man united et al and they seem to break down teams and score goals. I'm no knee jerker. But we need to find a formula. Or just go out in the first 20 minutes and blow them away.

Just a thought about Eriksens song. Are we still going to using the frankly a bit embarrassing (albeit a good tune) one about making Ozil look shite?

I always banked on bringing "van der vaart's" song back as frankly it's a laugh when you're pissed.

Anyway, 3-0 win, piece of piss and got a feeling that holtby will score

We don't transition as quickly as Arse or Chelsea though, by the time we shift the ball higher the opposition are organised, i watch the same teams that park the bus against us play the other top sides and they always look disorganised.
Also our movement off the ball is awful compared to Arsenal/Chelsea, Utd at times have been poor off the ball this season, i put that down to a cautious manager.

Hull is here for the taking,... get on them early and often!!!

BBC -- "Paulinho, Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker will return to the starting line-up after being rested for the midweek clash with Sheriff Tiraspol.

Hull are definitely without injured goalkeeper Allan McGregor and Danny Graham, while Sone Aluko (calf) and Robbie Brady (hernia) are major doubts.

In addition, on-loan midfielder Jake Livermore is ineligible to play against his parent club."

5 starters potentially out of the line up for Hull, get in there Lads!! (y)

Robbie Brady will be a huge loss for them. Seen a bit of him this season, seems to have something about him.
