I am positive but also telling the truth when I see it but I noticed you didn't disagree.[/quote]I didn't, but I have hope!!

Tricky backdrop of results today with Liverpool and Southampton both winning well, Chelsea and Everton drawing. Arsenal have a small lead at the top, but otherwise the next 6 teams including Spurs are within a couple of points of each other, with ManU just behind.

IMO AVB will be thinking pof our defensive strengths and deterined to get at least a point, even if our low goalscoring to date means it is likely we will only score a goal or two.

AVB has been pretty stubbornly continuing to use inverted wingers so interesting to see if he's prepared to change and play Townsend on the left as a conventional winger or not. If he does move Townsend to the lkeft, I'd expect to see Lamela on the right. But I can equally see AVB deciding that Lamela was still too easily shrugged off the ball in the EL tie against Sherrif (despite a much improved performance.

However I think AVB will stick with his favoured inverted winger formation, so Townsend will start on the right. If AVB is going to include Lamela IMO it will be as a no 10 as Eriksen has not excelled in recent weeks, which means that Sigursson will continue on the left due to his goalscoring.

In CM, looks like a Brazillian duo to me, to give great solidity.

Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Chiriches, Vertonghen
Sandro, Paulhino
Townsend, Lamela, Sigurdsson;
Soldado

The important thing is to win tomorrow; the margin is not that critical at this stage.

the margin is not critical for us at any stage. we will end the season with worse goal difference than all of chelsea, city, arsenal, united, liverpool. 1000%

If we continue averaging 2 points a game for the rest of the season then we will get 4th place or better and goal difference will not come into it.

I thought all our competitors would win today, two of them didn't - bloody good day IMO.

With Chelsea, Everton and one of, if not both Man U and Arsenal dropping points it's a good opportunity for us tomorrow.

However i think this will be a tricky game, Newcastle set up to play on the counter and with Remy, Ben Arfa and Gouffran they've got a lot of pace on the break. Im expecting lots of long balls into the space behind Dawson. Keeping Cabaye quiet will be important too as he's playing really well at the moment.

They are inconsistent though so hopefully after playing brilliantly last week against Chelsea they'll play woeful tomorrow.

How did you rate his performance? and be truthfull.

Pretty good in patches, not sure what that's got to do with the Newcastle match thread though.
You don't think looking good in patches against an extremely poor EL team will get Lamela a start against Newcastle do you ?

I do actually, no point in playing crappy el teams forever.
Gotta prove himself against EPL teams now, dont you think?

What you or I think don't really matter, it's only what AVB thinks that counts.

For what it's worth I don't think AVB will start him, I think it's probably the same team that started against Everton last week, the only change being if Sandro is injured.
