The most positive thing from and AVB point of view today, was that he went for a very attacking team, but Hughes had other tactics on his mind and AVB got it wrong. AVB didn't mess about like Harry did on so many occasions last season and leaving it to the last minute before making any changes.

AVB saw the problem, and when the time was right, thought about what he wanted to do then made the change. Whilst the performance was not great or even (apparently as I didn't see the game... radio for me), what AVB fills me with encouragement that he knows exactly what he is doing, he may not get it right first time or even all the time, but he has the ability to make positive changes that will give us a chance.

Good post but disagree with this part. He was involved in most of our most dangerous moments and created the second goal for us.

However, had he passed to Lennon when he broke free in the area, we'd have been 3-1 to the good. He was also a little selfish when he broke forward with Vertonghen and Defoe late on, again opting to shoot rather than find a team mate early.

I just feel that up until the build up to the second half he was still largely huff and puff. He may have been instrumental in the second goal, but his contribution was nothing like Lennon's on the other flank, IMVHO. After our second goal, they really had to pour forward looking for an equaliser and he was able to exploit the space left like the Bale of old, but was still wasteful.

I'm not jumping on some anti-Bale bandwagon, because I can remember Ronaldo (Greasy) going through a phase were he was virtually the laughing stock of English football, with lots of pointless step-overs and running into cul-de-sacs. I belieeve Giggs went through something similar. I think it is just a slight plateau in the career of that type of player, were, on the one hand, teams get used to what they can do while, on the other hand, they are learning new tricks and adding more variety to their play. Just pointing out that his form has been distinctly off for a while, and the team hasn't been great for a while, but no-one has blamed that on him playing as a winner. Like consistency in my opinions and think everyone else should, too (y)

Lots of people are forgetting that on paper at least QPR this season are a half decent side. They caused Chelsea problems and have some good players in Hoilett, Granero, Park, Cesar, and even Zamora when he's up for it, which he was today. I'm confident that they won't get relegated and will soon make their way up the table (not that I care too much either way :p)

Nonetheless we should beat them and we did. That's good enough for me.

This. And, as said above, they really caught us on the hop because they played (were forced to play?) a considerably different game to what we were expecting and what we were set-up to handle.

Bale isn't playing well because we are playing in a different formation and style

4-4-2 with Adebayor playing and he'd be the old Bale

Ooooh look at me... Congratulations son. Well done. (y) Your positive and negative rep's make you such a big man don't they.

It really doesn't absolve you of the fact that you called me, someone that you know nothing about, a 'loser' on the basis of a post on the internet. Makes you such a big man doesn't it. I hope that you sleep well tonight. I reiterate (regardless of your clearly life-affirming 'reps') ... You are a prick.

Bloody hell determined little fella aren't you!! I actually have tried to stop this nonsense a few times now it's getting old. I'm not after absolution or your approval and nothing you have posted since makes me change my initial, albeit rash, opinion of you. If that makes me a prick so be it although the record shows that I have tried to be reasonable since my original comment and you have done nothing but offer more abuse.

Our biggest failing by miles is our off the ball movement. We get the ball at the half way line - our attackers run up and stand in line with the defence forcing a long pass through bodies or a pass backwards. Our most mobile player who seems to find space the most is Sandro, who's not gonna be placing Xavi-type through balls.

We really need to work on bloody triangles so we can give and go, work the ball upfield and ensure there is always a forward or sideways passing option. We had the numbers in midfield but absolutely no control of it.

Bales performances went tits up from about half way through last season when some prat or himself, decide it would be good for him to wander around the pitch. I think it it was during the Wales game when he played on the right was the pivotal moment. Since then he has been all over the place, rather than being super glued to the wings like he used to be.

When we played Lazio on Thursday, the team was all better for it because Bale for the majority stayed on the left and did the job he was supposed to do.

Your positive and negative rep's

Though no amount of 'reps' make up for apostrophitis. It's not 'rep's' but plural (reps). I'm a punctuational pedant and no doubt somewhere have a string of 'dislikes'/'hates' and 'I will pay someone to come over there and kill you' fatwahs to prove it. Just saying.:)

most of the team today have played 3 games in a week and in two of those we were by far the better side

they definitely looked tired today and qpr had a lot of space in midfield, but we still won

difficult to decide between sandro and verthonghen for our best player as i thought they were both brilliant today in a game where we needed to defended for long spells. I think it has to go to verthonghen for his last ditch tackle

Five games unbeaten. Something to build on. Better not play like that at Old Trafford next week though. Hope we rest as many regulars as we can against Carlisle.

If we're going to go for the UEFA cup (as many people seemed to want before Lazio) we have to play a scratch side and risk a beating.

Today shows we can't concentrate on three cup competitions and expect great Premiership performances too.

For me, AVB is bulletproof now, until Old Trafford.

I thought the poor 1st half was possibly a direct result from playing a near full strength team on Thursday.

The win was extremely important today. 1 win in 6 (with Man U away coming up) would have put AVB under pressure but unbeaten in 5 seems ok.

Really? And yet you keep responding...

Where have you tried to be reasonable?

Equally I am not after your approval, I just thought that your response to my post made you look like a prick and I commented as
such. Nothing you have posted since has so far made me reconsider this position. Your referral to others 'reps' of your posts suggest that you need affirmation of your beliefs suggesting that you are looking for others approval. I clearly cannot help you in this matter.

Retract your post calling me a loser and I will retract my post calling you a prick. You have posted nothing to change my initial opinion that you suggesting that I am a loser, makes you a prick. I could say so much more but I really don't want to add to the unnecessary abuse that has become more and more prevalent on this site and others.

If we didn't play so badly in the 1st half we may never had known how good Verts can be at left back and that Caulker is now ready to be a starter. We have some great options in defence now and Dawson is till on the bench as well! I can see Dempsey starting a head of Siggy next week now and Caulker keeping his place with Verts at left back. Bring on the win!

That is only if you believe that 'rep' is the correct term and spelling and therefore 'reps', without the apostrophe would be the plural... I myself was shortening 'reputations' and thus added an apostrophe to indicate that letters had been left out.

I don't think we have played very well at all this season but, there is signs that we are going in a better direction than the one Redknapp left us in. There is a lot changing at the club we have to be patient, this system unlike the Redknapp one which focussed more on the players expressing themselves is about discipline and tactics and until that is second nature there is going to be cagey performances. We are pressing better, the high line looks like it is getting more disciplined and we look like we are in better condition. To me at least the team is playing like a team rather than relying on individual brilliance.

It has to be a balanced mixture of both, there has to be team coordination and discipline when working together with a common goal, but players should be allowed to express themselves and be creative when doing so rather than having them act like mindless robots following the same routine over and over.

That is clever and there is very little I can say at the moment to argue against it.:)
