We really need Sunderland to beat Everton in the week which will mean they stay up and Newcastle have nothing to play for.
The way things are going, that's not going to happen is it?!?!

If we can't beat Newcastle, even away (this is a team that couldn't manage a single goal against Aston Villa for goodness sake!) then we've seriously screwed up.The way things are going, that's not going to happen is it?!?!

I'm positive that we can beat Newcastle. The pressure will be completely on Newcastle if they are still involved by Saturday and they seem to be seriously struggling for goals. If they have a chance of escaping relegation then they will have to come out and attack. Regardless, I don't think that their will be a hangover into next season. I'm just hoping that the lads have a good (and injury free) Euros. Our form isn't good though. It must be good enough to get a draw there though you'd hope. I want a win obviously, don't want this form being taken into next season.
Exactly why is everyone suddenly losing their shit at the thought of playing fucking Newcastle, we don't even have to win to secure 2nd place ffs.
I think that not winning the league has hit them harder than people realise. They have tried to cover it up but it can be seen in their performances. Hopefully another week will allow them to refocus and this will come through in an improved performance. The players certainly do care and will be desperate to finish above the scum.Have the players switched off now they have qualified for the champions league?
Felt like it yesterday.
Because irrespective of opposition we have lost our shit as a team in recent weeks.
It's been a fantastic season there is no doubt about that but the unsaid needs to be finally said. It is time for Harry Kane to step up another level, and whilst many may not like me saying this but to do this he simply has to tweak certain aspects of his game. He needs to vary his chosen options on the right occasions, if he does this he will have keepers and defenders even more on their toes, he needs to keep them guessing as to whether he will shoot or go for goal or square it or pass to players in far better positions than he is to score. There have been far too many occasions when he has let his selfishness get in the way of Spurs scoring even more goals than they have already, particularly Lamela who is usually the one who misses out on benefiting from easy tap ins or better shots on goal
He needs to reflect on these small margins or error and mix it up a little bit. For the greater good it will make him even more clinical and even more dangerous than he is now. Truly great players know when to have the eye for goal and when to be unselfish and pass to players in better positions.
I've noticed that he tends to be a little more more unselfish in the box when he plays as a front man for England than he does for Spurs and it does not make him less dangerous or clinical by slightly tempering this one option shoot or always go for goal instinct.
I'm not saying ditch the instinctive ruthless eye for goal attitude I'm simply saying mix it up a little to keep the opposition guessing.
If that had happened yesterday Lamela would have bagged at least one goal and we wouldn't be looking over our shoulders at that lot down the road, he wasn't the only one guilty of this yesterday, Erikson was guilty of not sliding it through to Son who could have had another.
Had this discussion earlier in the season. The thing is, he knows he's the only proper striker on the books and takes on the responsibility of trying to score himself rather than trying to score as a team. If he played with his head up a bit more and used other options, opponents would have to think about more than just blocking his shots and that would yield him more time and space. He's very young though and I think having another striker on the books will have him analysing his own game more - at least, that's what I hope.
To end on a positive note, you have all been great so far for a team so young and I thank all of the players and manager and coaches for giving the fans a season to savour, but a few tweaks could make things even better. COYS and come on Harry, the future is bright and it could be brighter......

Agreed. There was almost a kind of ghostly sourness about our players yesterday. They looked agitated and the urgency had gone somewhat. I think not winning the title has probably hurt our young side. I think a young person's mentality probably is "Let's get this season out of the way now...and come back and win it next year". I'm sure this has to running through/creeping in our player's minds. I'm sure they're determined to win it next season - they just want to be at the starting blocks again.
