Agreed. Maybe they should somehow reward club who have to travel long distances

Coutinho was out from mid-September till the end of October and then picked up another injury in December. I was fully expecting this to derail their season and it didn't seem to. I was also, uncharitably, hoping for an injury to Suarez. And that didn't happen either!
I think the difference was (apart from an almost entirely new team for us), we've had an injury crisis from game 1 until now. Suarez was out as has been said at the beginning of the season, and pool did well. But they had momentum behind them, so when they did get a couple of little injuries to key players, the mood around the team was buzzing and they had the winning mentality there.

Think back to when HR was in charge when we got CL. We had a lot of injuries that season as well, and I particularly remember us playing Chelsea, Arse and Utd? or Pool? (can't quite remember) in the space of 10 days, and we beat both Chelsea and Arse. We were a team back then, confidence was high, so the injuries didn't have the same impact.

I know what you mean, I think he went injury free all of last season as well. Jammy git!

*rolls eyes*

Bill Nick said that when being in Europe meant something. The UEFA Cup is now the Europa League where the failing Champions League teams get rewarded for failing.

No one values this competition which is apparent by how we have been treating it over recent seasons.

That's your opinion though but as we are never normally good enough for champions league qualifying only once this represents our best chance of Europe.

Why should 'making important signings' be a prerequisite for improvement? This is such a common fallacy. They stuck together, they retained their best players and they continued to learn their manager's system. That made them better.

It's called stability. We could usefully emulate it.

Liverpool, who actually have a less deep squad than we have, in other words, there is a bigger gap in quality between their notional first 11 and their bench, have also been extraordinarily fortunate with injuries this season - they've basically lost no key players at all for any meaningful periods, whereas we have had enforced rotation in defence, midfield and attack throughout the season.

Also played minimal games To pretty much anyone in the top section plus as has been stated already they shift the ball much quicker and their movement is impressive unlike our pondering football

All that matters is the starting lineup. Show me our most talented players playing together and I'll be properly excited.

I think today's news will make the atmosphere more conducive to football than it's been in a while at WHL.

Also interesting to see if Tim makes and statement selections now he has nothing to lose/gain. IE all foreigners on the bench and English kids coming in or players he feels have let him down being on the bench. Or, if he's still on the kids getting into the team bonus, he could just fill the team up with youth players and rake it in...

If we finish 6th then do Arsenal have to win the FA cup for us to get Europa?

I can see an abject, uninterested performance. If the team weren't up for it against Liverpool, I wonder how they can possible rouse themselves for this.

I expect a win, but more than likely it'll be a dragged over the line, nonsense kind of win with Sherwood sitting on the dugout with a face on him like a bulldog who's swallow a wasp, not giving a shit if things go badly, sitting smuggly if things are going well.

Pfft...

Sky say 6th will already get Europa

Manchester City's Capital One Cup success and impending top-four finish means sixth place will be enough for a berth in the continent's second-tier tournament, a slot currently occupied by Manchester United, with Tottenham one point behind.

No, Europa spots are down to 6th already because Citeh won the League Cup.

If Arsenal win the FA Cup whoever they beat will get the Europa League spot.

Not cont
this might be controversial but i hope we put in a good performance and win tonight.

coys.

Not controversial. You should want us to win every game and put in a good performance. I do. I want the season to end ASAP and the World Cup to start but I still want us to win any game we play
