Humbug! I think we will stuff Stoke.
We should've won today if not for some woeful defending and the odd shit INDIVIDUAL performance rather than a team failure, and the referee was a **** too to boot - and to top it all off we have a LOT of injuries. We had a full strength side against City, and a strong one against Liverpool too.
Give Tim a chance.

We will stuff Stoke, and we will rape their arses if we had the Team vs man City on

Dozed off at some point, last thing I remember is Nabil being subbed on.

Very disappointing result.

Really thought today was dire. In some aspects - the passing, the set piece defending, for example, I actually think it was as bad as Liverpool. We were against inferior opposition and had 11 men throughout.Foster didn't have many saves to make and our final ball was found wanting time after time.

Agree with the comments about Sherwood playing 4-4-2 to show how he is different to AVB. I know AVB got many things wrong. I didn't think he should have been sacked but obviously we were beaten heavily and I could understand why he left.

In some ways, however, today I felt even more pessimistic than after our heavy losses. Where can we go from here this season? There has been no temporary bounce from a new manager. We were so open in midfield too. Surely it would have been better to have Capoue in the centre and move Eriksen wide or forward to replace Sig or Chadli who offered nothing. Soldado and Adebayor didn't link together at all. We are completely lost on and off the field at the moment. Sorry state of affairs.

I'll obviously always support the team but I'm still scratching my head at how it has gone so wrong so quickly esp in home games. Everyone needs to take a slice of the blame. Especially the players, irrespective of what formation we play, who simply aren't performing to the standards they set or aren't good enough to begin with.

We could have won, but we also could have been 1-4 down at half time if it wasn't for West Brom's shit finishing. We had players out injured, but West Brom also left out Brunt, Mulumbu, McAuley, Sessegnon and Sinclair with West Ham on Saturday in mind, and didn't have Long either.

Other than Reid not being sent off (and he should probably have had a straight red for that challenge, how he didn't even get a second yellow is just baffling) did the ref make any real game changing howlers? I don't think we can blame the ref as even if West Brom had gone down to ten men they'd have just defended a point and we've always been dreadful at breaking down teams that just defend.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

i really want to give him a chance and i honestly thought that the 442 in the first game was because it was a cup game and he wanted to get a few players on the pitch and some game time. but its still here and it is a chocolate teapot 442 aswell, we not only are we all wizz and no bang but we are also so open when a terrible team like west brom can play through you.

There is going to be some pain when implementing a new way of playing but if after the pain we are left with an arcaic 442 with two headless chickens either side in lennon and townsend (who TS made clear that it was his position to lose before injury) then we will regress because the rest of the fucking league stopped playing that way 3 years ago.

We have some potentially superb players in Eriksen and Lamela who if we are going to go through the pain of transitioning should be the centre of a system that works for them, 442 is not that system which is funny because no other level at the club actually play it which baffles me even more.

If TS is doing it to be different from avb or its what the fans want then he is either an idiot or asking the wrong fans

Trouble is I think TS is going all out to appease the vociferous, bone heads who harp on about playing the 'Tottenham way' by trying to be as anti AVB as literally possible

Our man of the match today has to got to be Lloris, followed by Lamela. Says a lot, one is a goalkeeper, the other only played 20 mins and we where at home to WBA.

I just don't understand why with the development squad Tim played 433 but now with the senior team (who are perfectly matched for 433) he reverts to the archaic 442. The mind boggles.
I didn't know he played 433 with them, wtf???

Why is he doin' an 'arry then ffs??

Jesus.

Not a great result at all. IMO Sherwood can only be playing 442 because he needs Adebayor back and also needs to get Soldado into some sort of form, and thinks 442 will give them more chances to score from - but Adebayor didn't turn up (3 games in a week too much after not playing ?) whilst Soldado still isn't scoring.

WBA seemed to be playing 5 at the back which stifled Spurs, despite our creative midfield of Erikssen and Holtby.

BTW the situation seems very similar to that which AVB suffered from - an inability to breakdown packed defences, so I suspect that with AVB in charge he would have played Soldado up front with Sigurssen and Chadli on the wings. Not sure the result would have been better.

IMO Sherwood will either give 442 (with Soldado and Adebayor) one last go against Stoke before going to 4231 or 433 (as he/Ramsey/ Ferdinand were doing with development squad and Nextgen series) - I don't think he is aas inflexible as AVB was.

Soldado is now more lively than he's ever been and is bang in the games. Just needs to find his finish now and it's bingo time for him.

This guy doesn't lose his ability overnight.

Poor guy has had to suffer zero service, now he's getting much more and just needs to get ta couple goals from open play to be off to the races.

You don't really mention how West Ham, Hull, Liverpool, Man City, Fulham and even some pub teams from the Europa league cut us apart at will even with one and sometimes two DMs playing.

We're not getting cut open because we're not playing a DM. That is bullshit. Nothing has changed in regard to us giving away chances to opposing teams - we've been doing it all year.

Yep, those pub teams frmo the Europa League that cut us apart to such an extent that we conceded two goals in six matches, i.e. the best defensive record of any team in the competition.

How many of the top teams in England (or in Europe, for that matter) play without a DM?

So soldado or negredo ??

Probably Negredo for his greater strength and aerial ability.

Technically they're both very good although Negredo is playing in a much more settled side and is benefiting from excellent service.

Neither are particularly rapid but I'm still confident that Soldado will come good especially if we keep playing fast flowing attack minded football.

Today wasn't great by any means although I felt their goal could have been avoided while ours was a touch of class.

They were also lucky to have finished with 11 players on the pitch.
