Have you heard? He’s won more trophies/medals than Kane. What a world class player that Scotty lad.
Think tonight makes Kalvin Phillips better than Steven Gerrard as he now has a League title, Champions league & FA cup under his belt…

This is what sets the narrative around the world for City’s (or any “plastic”club) success, the headlines. The media controls this. You won’t see a thing written here about Financial doping, FFP, Qatari atrocities or human rights violations.

Don’t be surprised when you find out the majority of fans around the world are very ignorant to those things.

Let’s just allow Slippy G to rest peacefully, he couldn’t lace KP’s boots.

Football giants, Stenhousemuir, are on the right side of history - (it is unusual for a professional club to be so brazen…)

I dont....I think of a cheating ****

They really don’t. He’s widely known as a massive drug cheat.
You’re not the only ones, but I think you’re both missing the point of what Rusky was saying. Armstrong is a cheat, no one thinks of what a great cyclist he was, they think he’s a cheat. City are demonstrably cheats, that’s what a lot of people will remember.

I know lots are getting their knickers in a twist about city winning it. But I prefer them to win it. Than the cheating diving anti football inter team. Sorry. But I hate the dark arts of football it pisses me off so much watching them do what they do. And it’s accepted behaviour! Bollocks to them. Cry into your fucking morettis. I’m done with Italians.

(present Italian spurs supporters excepted)

You forgot to screenshot this part, right at the top of the live feed which is what most fans are going to see first:

Again, all I’m saying is the media creates the majority of the narrative, so don’t be surprised when most football fans around the world don’t care about their devious methods and outright cheating.

I'm not sure how well travelled you are, but it really isn't that common of a theme around the rest of the world.

Most fans just see them as another rich successful club that got there because of a buyout. You'd be surprised at how ignorant the common football fan can be.
A campaign against ignorance isn't high on my list of to dos. City football club, their owners, and fans will enjoy their day in the sun. The asterisk is still there, overshadowing it all, whether or not global recognition or ignorance of it prevails.

It's definitely a great story, if you put the controversies aside.

For the everyday common football fan, their journey since being taken over in 2009 has been incredible, even more so since Pep joined.

I do agree with your sentiment though, and the commentary was waaaay over the top.
It’s definitely a great story………. if you forget they cheated and are currently charged with over 100 offences.

The point of view I’m trying to give you and everyone else in here is that the asterisk is there in the minds of the minority and not the majority so it’s relevance is subjective.

I don’t agree with it either, FWIW. But it’s the reality of their reputation.

Again, a very small percentage of football fans around the world actually care about the cheating and charges. All they see is the flashy trophy celebrations and incredible football on the pitch.

In 15 years time no one will even remember that, all they’ll remember is that City won the treble.

Of course that’s very true…….. but doesn’t change the fact that they cheated.

100% and I’m not disputing that one bit. But as far as story’s go and how they’ll be told, the media won’t be focusing on the charges and cheating they’ll be focusing on the football and the success whilst glossing over the shady shit. Just like they did with Roman/Chelsea, QSI/PSG etc.

I wish that were true. As we've seen with Chelsea fans defending Roman when he had to flee, Newcastle fans whenever the Saudi takeover is criticised and now Utd fans wanting the Qatari bid to succeeded, a lot of fans do not care about how dodgy or immoral the source of their club's success is.

In all those cases you’re talking about fans of that particular team. Of course they’d hold that view. But a lot of other fans of football see this for exactly what it is.

When people think of Lance Armstrong, they only think of his wins.

Rusky your posts are normally fantastic but this is absolutely hilarious - his entire legacy is the fact that his drugs cheating completely ruined and wiped out any form of credit or glory he had. I can't think of a single person who wouldn't respond to his name without his drugs being the first thing they thought of in response.

Since the City takeover 15 years ago we all knew that this would happen eventually with them winning the Champions League but I’m more surprised it’s taken so long.

Chelsea more or less was the blueprint for major modern day financial doping in English football and like City lost their first CL final.
I’m sure Newcastle will get there as well, perhaps quicker than 15 years who knows.

The financial doping isn’t just with the obvious final transfer fee of a player or wages but with undisclosed fees to agents and sponsors attached to both these state run football clubs and governing bodies. Then they more or less have first dibs and with FFP well we all know it’s a farce.

I for one didn’t care about this game tonight, even though it was free to watch I didn’t. I just checked the final result later on for the inevitable.

I just find it amusing how City still haven’t scored a goal or even drawn a game against us at our new stadium.

Also when looking back to our CL run in 2018-19 it’s even more remarkable we got there in the first place. We may all get whacked with what have you won yadda yadda yadda but that was a pinch yourself moment. Maybe it’s just me but 4 years ago I kept thinking I’m I awake yet when we reached that final.
