Sane absolutely brilliant for Bayern today. Seems like Nagelsmann has unlocked something his previous Bayern managers didn't quite find.
I've always really really rated him and I felt his biggest issue was believing in himself.

I remember one game a year or so ago where he constantly got in good positions but was ignored as his teammates looked for Lewandowski instead, even if he was open. But he never really looked confident to ask for the ball or get angry for not receiving.

Maybe with a huge presence such as Lewandowski gone, he can step up and shine?

538? I think they are just ELO rankings, neither good, nor bad, just there reflecting various results.
Well, not really. They don't just reflect results they create a number indicating relative strength based on both attacking and defensive stats (heavily based on xG, or their xG system which in trying to fix biases around xG is somehow made worse) and results that are then weighted depending on the opposition. (Oh also, bafflingly, transfermarkts player valuation are also taken into account).

It's just that the way it is calculated completely ignores context within games/style of play and is particularly weak when taking teams from different leagues. I mean RB Salzburg is the 11 best team in the world apparently, while Aston villa are better than Juventus.

Most of what fivethirtyeight does regarding football is utter crap. I would say club coefficients are more effective ways to rank teams, though those are also highly flawed as 5 years is a long time and only European competition counts.

Marseille vs Frankfurt tomorrow is going to be... interesting.

Two fanbases notorious for trouble and fan violence, what could possibly go wrong?

Frimpong smashing it tonight with a couple of assists.

You'd thunk he'd be a perfect RWB in the Conte system.

All this ' but there's nobody else out there' nonsense.

Quality player and HG too.

As some feared, looks like everyone will beat everyone in our group which means it's going to be tight as for us to even qualify.

We will need to win all our home games and likely go to Frankfurt and win.

The Marseille fans also threw fireworks at celebrating Frankfurt fans after Frankfurt scored their second goal, which ended up being disallowed.

Even if I were the type to go to every game home and away I'd seriously consider giving this one a swerve.

Shaktar - Celtic match has been a good watch. Mudryk scored a great goal. He's definitely one to watch. Pace, power and a truly terrible neck tattoo.
