yep - it's good they're struggling a bit - but I know I'm still gonna be very very nervous ahead of that game - losing to Getafe has given us real problems

Anderlecht are not the team we beat in 1984, nor anything like. From what I've seen in visits to Belgium over the past 3-4 years the standard is pretty poor.

Who was that Belgian youngster who (i think) came from Beveren and who used to play for us once every blue moon. Think his name may have begun with an M . Turned out to be a bit lightweight. Anyone know how things are going for him?

Well for those of you who are completely confident - I admire your optimism - here's hoping you're right

Fact is though it is very plausible we lose to Anderlecht and Aalbor win at home to Getafe and away to Hapoel - Not likely I agree, but easily within the bounds of possibility - then it can definitely be tricky -

It's indeed unlikely that we will ave guaranteed qualification before the anderlecht game - and therefore I for one will be v.nervous (admittedly that says a lot about my pessism in these matters - but hey it's the way I am :) It also helps me get many predictions right BTW - eg stating categorically we won't get 4th this season before the season started and making an early season prediction of 7th which many people saw as being too pessismistic

Not that I'm predicting we won't qualify, just that there's a lot of work to do yet.

Very plausible?! Anything can happen but I'm sure we'll win our remaining games. If we do, we'll finish above Anderlecht. If Getafe lose to Anderlecht (after we play them) but win the other two I think it comes down to GD between us and Getafe over who finishes first. So if they could drop some points on their trip to Aalborg that would help us a lot.

Really it's out of our hands now, but 2 wins and we'll be second, which might be worse than finishing 3rd!

It is out of our hands, but we and Getafe are the best sides in the group. Again, Anderlecht are not the force they were 20-odd years ago. The Jupiler League is pants, honestly. If we can't get at least a point from them we might as well pack up and go home.

Villareal are probably the best side in the competition, but I think we can do them.

I may be wrong but I understood that if two teams finish on the same number of points, the result of the match between the teams determines the placings. Only if the match was drawn does goal difference come into the equation. If this is correct, Getafe would need to drop points in two of their remaining fixtures for us to have any chance of finishing above them.

Just beat Alborg and we are through. I don't see how we won't qualify whatsoever. Two wins in the group stage are more than enough. Five points are actually good enough with three out of five teams going through.

Relax!!!

Nico Claessen ? Bit old i reckon?

Anyway has anyone seen how getafe have been doing lately as i watched them beat Barcelona last weekend 2-0 and they haven't lost since beating us. So we are now better than barcelona based on these facts...

That's true in the CL but I'm not sure if it's true in the cup, which is why I phrased it the way I did

They would, but who cares?

Someone who wants us to finish above Getafe? I know I do!

Well, it would be nice, but even if we win both our remaining games (which I think we will) they are going to have to slip up big-time in two of theirs, and I don't really see that happening. I don't know what the ruling is if we finish level on points, but it could be academic.
