He's nothing like Bent. He's a poor mans Drogba. Bent is a poor man's Torres. Completely different players.

I actually quite like Cole, he's big, quick, has a good touch and CAN score reasonably reguarly. I think he's been nullified by West Ham's lack of a good midfield. If we were to sell Keane and Pav and O'Hara was up for it, I would see a 5 million deal plus O'Hara as not bad business. He'd give us something different

BUT I wouldn't want him starting as the marquee striker we all hope for. God no.

Contraversial opinion alert: If you have a weak heart look away now.

Carlton Cole is better than Pav.

I think Pav is technically a better player than Carlton Cole, but Carlton might be more useful in our squad in that we don't have another player like him...

Would potentially be an improvement on Peter Crouch, but other than that it's not a rumor I wish to come true.

Maybe Harry thought that he could link up well with Defoe after his assist at Upton Park early on last season :)

I think you under value 3 metre peters contribution this season to say Carlton Cole is an upgrade on him

I'm just talking about their comparable ability as all round CF's, as opposed to one champagne moment. Definately not undermining Crouchy's importance to us this season.

I dont think Carlton Cole would be as bad as people are making out, but he doesnt have the required skill to improve us.

Yes, he can hold the ball up, which we lack, and he can sometimes be a real handful. Its hard to do well in a poor team, and I think he was rushed back from injury like JD was and never got going again.

However, he is still rough and raw. He lacks good technical ability, and seems to suffer, mentality wise.

In the end, I would hope we do better, rather than getting more players who are ok with being on the bench

I think he wouldn't be a bad signing. But i wouldn't break the bank or pay over the odds for him because we can attract far better players. If the spanners wanted 12 mill from us and 8 mill from someone eles(which i wouldn't put past them) then just laugh it off. But he would be handy.

Cole is a unit. He can bully defenders if he wants. i cant remember the last time we had a player that could do that for us?? if we had to we could pump the ball up to him (in the air or to his feet), he can hold it up to bring in Defoe, Modric, Lennon etc.

He can get goals. Over this last season he really did find the net for Wham. Set up a fair few aswell because he played up top as a lone striker.

If he sorted out his fitness and shook off the injuries he would be decent 3rd/4th choice back up.

Like a few people have said Cole is capable of bullying defenders. In the game at Upton Park earlier last season he gave Ledley a really torrid time. Neither he or Seb could get close to him with his back to goal.

He is very much a confidence player, with mediocre technique. When his confidence is high he does great things, but when its low his technique is exposed.

If he is such a good 'bully' then why dont we just buy a player that is a bully and can also score goals? Ive heard west ham want £15m for cole which is ridiculous, for another few mil, or even less we could probably get an all round striker which would be much better value.
