Whilst we are sat in 4th at the moiment, if we do not achieve that at the end of the season the reason for me won't be the signings or non-signings made in Jan, it will be the dropped points prior to that against Stoke, Everton, Hull, Wolves and Birmingham.

It's a shame as they were very winable games, but that's football and I suspect that our inability to get the job done in those fixtures suggests that we are not yet ready for CL football. Signing some extra quality would change that fact but would not allow us to go back and attain those "easy" points we have thrown away.

Mike, I agree that does not read very good. However, our 3 competitors for 4th are doing no better.
Villa have dropped points against - Wigan, Blackburn, Wolves, Sunderland, Everton, West Ham (X2) and Burnley.
Liverpool - Sunderland, Birmingham, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Stoke and Wolves.
Man City - Wigan, Fulham, Birmingham, Burnley, Hull and Bolton.

Actually, I don't think we are ready for CL football, but neither are any of the teams chasing 4th. We would all struggle in the CL, if we're honest, but just getting in is kind of a self-fulfilling thing, because we'd get momentum, if we didn't totally collapse...

if city get CL they'll buy again like chelsea did - and again and again

had we got a pacy powerful striker in on jan 2 or thereabouts we might have a few more points now and a real shot at 4th spot

Why don't you put that as you signature and save yourself repeating it every third post?

:) A&C

maybe I will - if I can work out this sigs business

I've turned everyone's sigs and all the rest of it off - as i can't be doing with all that stuff personally - but i guess I can put it on mine for those who do have sigs turned on

I see Harry is tipping Beckford for the Prem league - I'm gonna laugh so much if a prem club does sign him -

I'll probably add that to my sig too if it happens :)

You won't be the only one laughing, but for most it'll be a different reason.

Beckford has found his level. Disastrous move for him if he moved to the Prem. He should stay with Leeds and try and be a hero there.

All we need to do now is make that old has-been Keane's move to the Bhoys permanent and get rid of that waste of space Jenas, preferably to the Spammers or Goons, and we'll be all set.

*sits back and waits for DC boy to bite*

NB My comments are NOT to be taken seriously. About Keano, anyway.

And that was in the less difficult Bundesliga, where he competing with the likes of little Hoffenheim for the top 4 place.
He should try the Turkish league, i hear its a very difficult league, and if you do it there, you can definitley do it in the EPL!

I think some people actually forget or simply don't realise how hard it is to play professional football and get to those dizzy heights. I played semi-pro for 3 years, so I got paid for playing football once/twice a week on top of my usual 5 days-a-week job.

It was absolutely exhausting and I ultimately caned my back and hamstrings into retirement.

To suggest that Beckford at 26 could nail a starting place in any Premiership side is laughable. Chelsea reject, who went back to non-league football before going to Carlisle, Scuhorpe and Leeds.

The step up from Leeds to Prem football is more than massive, one slip and you are gone. Just ask some of the others that have fallen from 'grace'; Rasiak etc? Keane has gone now to a vastly lower league and watching him last night was actually depressing. He aint coming back to WHL, he has gone, thank god.

We are doing great at the moment, results have swung our way this season granted ('bout time) but we don't need a Beckford thanks.

No really DC, thanks all the same.

Nope DC, we don't, thanks anyway.

DC......... stop, period. :)
