Nice! and next season he'll easily have broken into the top ten there!

My choice for our player of the season!

 I checked the stats as well for the same reason, he should be well into the top 10 during next season!

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned the fact that when you exclude penalties Bent and Berbatov have pretty much the same goal contribution ratio.

One might look like a world-beater whilst the other looks like he couldn't beat an egg, but the bottom line is that they are level in terms of 'effective' contribution.

Whilst I'm still trying to get my head round this fact it does show that appearances can be deceiving and that if Bent can be supplied the ball in the right areas he could be a very effective player for us.

But Berbatov does so so much more than just his involvement in the goals that we score.

His hold up play is exceptional and he consistently gets us good possesion.

We would be much less of a side without Berbatov in it.

The Bent/Berbatov comparison was much of my motivation for posting. I think I'll point back to these stats next time Bent doesn't score 3 games in a row and we get the usual 'Bent out' threads.

There's quite a few yids & ex yids in that list. Turns out Steffan Iversen scored more than I remember!

I recently quoted the stats from the Torygraph to illustrate this:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ma...d=F17&targetRule=10&team=6&teamname=Tottenham

(scroll to bottom)

and:

http://telegraph.jumpmediagroup.com/PlayerStat.aspx?p1id=5127&p2id=3789

There is virtually no difference in their shot accuracy, and Bent actually converts a higher proportion of his on-target shots. Perhaps more surprisingly, their passing accuracy is pretty much on a par.

Of course, as Ledge says, Berbatov brings a whole lot more to the party than goals, but considering Bent's time on the pitch has been pretty limited and his appearances fragmented, one can hardly say he hasn't chipped in with a decent share of goals—and that was, I thought, what we'd bought him for.

Strangely though, our least effective combo seems to be Berby and Bent - like two estranged lovers resorting to communication by letter second class.

Stats after stats for the past few season show that he is one of the best .... he sweats blood for Spurs...the two best managers Spurs have had since the 80's rate him highly enough to play him over a class player like Defoe and also make him captain.....and some people on Spurscommunity still think that Robbie Keane is over-rated?

What is it with these people?

How many Premiership goals has Berby got in total now? I thought he'd have 25 or more. Can't be far off 25 surely!
