I can understand why he stayed on but he was very poor today and should have been subbed later in the second half.

your opinion of football and vdv is very poor. please go play chess, and dont write shit on this SPURS forum

@rafvdvaart 8pm yesterday

Great win today over Sunderland! Very happy with my assist, the 3 points and 3rd place #COYS
I was walking past the front when he and Sylvie left the stadium in a white BMW X6 , Rafa gave a few autographs but I am too old for that shit and would only probably lose it anyway

I think he's fit, but in a different way... :hump:

Although we had to wait until the second half to see it, he and Sandro were pretty damn good yesterday.

The guy has turned it on so many times for us, he is pure class through and through. No footballer exists on this earth who doesn't have the odd off game (see Ronaldo & the recent El Clasico for example), even God had a day off when he made earth. We have a genuine world class talent at our football club, please just enjoy it while you can!

That was Pav.

Good ball though, but excellent finish for Dufflyuchenko.

I don't know... it looked to me as though on 60 mins VDV decided he'd had enough, dropped a little deeper and started tackling and spraying the ball around. It looked to me as though he got a hold of the game and turned what was in danger of stagnating into a 0-0 draw into a 1-0 win. But I am heavily biased in favour of the bloke so it may just be me.

After a slightly ineffective 1st half he was superb in the 2nd, playing a number of excellent through balls and linking up play from deep.

I was extremely glad to see it as I was becoming concerned he'd come back from injury too soon

Like the Stoke game, Rafa started off coming far too deep to get the ball. With Luka coming in off the left, and the central two being a bit linear, we struggled. Second half he started getting on the ball 40 yards or less out and made several great chances, including the goal.

He needs to stay further upfield because in and around the penalty area is where he does the damage. I can understand why he goes deep to get on the ball but others need to take responsibility for the initial stages of play, Rafa will sort out the final ball or shot.
