We've always driven to Villa but this Saturday we're opting for the train and Strongbow.
Looks like a train from New Street to Witton would be best as it's closer to the ground but what about after? I've read somewhere that it gets very busy at Witton and that the service isn't that good, so would Aston station be a better bet after the match?

Ta in advance.

I normally just get a bus back into the city centre as the place just comes to a standstill post-game :-(

I remember waiting at Witton for bloody ages after the game once, thank god Teddy had won us the game!

I'd seek an alternative route back into the city centre if I were you, I remember going to another station once (probably Aston) and it was still pretty dodgy.

Thanks all.

Sorry to be a pain but the bus stops - I assume they're plentiful on Witton Rd?

Check out the service from Marylebone to Snow Hill—someone (BOF?) posted a season or two ago that it was a lot cheaper than Euston-New Street.

I was about to suggest the same thing. trains to snow hill are much.cheaper than those into new street station. then hop onto a bus

Cheers - coming from South Wales though and we don't have the luxury of choosing stations!

NP4-Yid - I always come up from south wales :)
Yep buses do stop by the ground (albeit a 2 minute walk!). Can't remember the number I got before though! :(
Ask at New Street and a staff member will tell you the right bus to get on. You don't have anything to worry about though - it is pretty easy, all told.

I found Witton to be very easy to be honest. They put on a shitload of trains after the game and getting back to New Street was a piece of piss.
