Anyone else see when we scored our 4th goal, our 3 CBs just stayed on the halfway line and hugged each other.

Really seems like a unified squad at the moment and Romero, Kulu and Bentancur have come in and really given the environment a refreshing boost.

Edit: found it on a Villa fans match day blog as I’m sad and literally type Tottenham into YouTube and watch everything. ?

I noticed that they did the same after the 4th and 5th goals against The Barcodes last week.

Rewatched some of the post game analysis on Sky and how embarssing was Souness? Couldn't stop mentioning how lucky Spurs was in each phase of the analysis and when praising Kane it always have to follow whether he will stay at Spurs next season, and how he would want to show medals to his future grand children. What about Conte? Well apparently there is a big job available in Manchester for him and maybe he will take Kane with him..:banghead:

On the other hand. how does it sound when Spurs are the better team and ending up losing to a couple of screamers?

they are actually so dismissive of his point almost laughing at him, maybe its because its born out of emotion? Non of them are wrong of course in their own way

Interesting to see the comments on Souness, my wife doesn't watch football but as she was in the room she saw the game yesterday and in particular Souness's comments and she went up the wall. She didn't know who he was, never heard of him but I think she got him taped pretty well. All I will say is that if you won 4-0 away you didn't "get away with it". It assumes that had Villa scored one of their 1st half chances they'd have carried on creating them and we'd have let them but it don't work like that.

If ever 'a game of two halves' was needing an explanation , this game should be cited. We were fortunate first half, a mix of some good defending / goalkeeping and Villa being piss poor.
Second half, once we stepped it up, they couldn't live with us.

It was a big 3 points for us . No complaints.

I agree that it was a game of two halves.

FH - our defence showed how resolute we are.

SH - our attack showed how unstoppable we are when we are on Son(g)

I didn’t watch the game but I tracked it via Twitter. I joined the thread about 3mins after Son’s first goal. It was 40mins of excruciating reading with Villa all over us, Hugo doing monster saves, us being beaten up and generally doom and gloom.
I popped into this match thread at HT and so similar posts.
back to Twitter for the 2nd half and it was a different game all together. I kept waiting for the next Villa attack but it was just post after post about how good Kane is, how good Son is how good a signing Kulu is etc etc. The only positive thing the Villa fans had to say was praising Ashley Young’s foul.

We did ride our luck a little in the first half. I think Gerrard was half right about no one being surprised if Villa had gone in at halftime 2 or 3-1 up. They certainly carved out a few good chances that on another day they may have converted. But if Villa had equalised the rhythm of match may have also changed. They may have dropped off a little and we may have pressed more. The early goal had an influence on how the first half played out. We could afford to sit back a bit knowing we would have chances on the break whilst the onus was on Villa, especially as the home side, to come at us.

The second half was completely different. Understandably and predictably Villa were unable to keep up the intensity of their first half performance and the early goal in the second half really took the wind out of their sails.

I think the difference in quality was there for all to see. We broke clinically and took our chances superbly. There was also some fantastic assists as well as goals. Villa by contrast were unable to make their chances pay and could not contain our attacking threat in the second half.

Loved Kane's headed flicks for the second and third goals. Reminded me of my playing days, I couldn't get off the ground to head the ball either.

I know it would have been said I’m sure but can we talk about the 4th goal! Kulu starting it off with that lovely but if skill in the full back position and then eventually (calmly at that) picking out Son. It was a thing of beauty from back to front.

It was a shocking display of the most inconsistent and incompetent refereeing I've seen for a long time. Some of the tackles that were flying in from Villa players, during the first half in particular, were reckless, to say the least and others were intentional, yet somehow we finished the game with three cautions and AV finished with two - how the hell could that be possible? The assault on Kane by Young deserved a red card.

I love how you got a disagree for this. ?‍♂️

It’s partly because of the pessimistic narrative around the club perpetuated by the media and bought into by our own fans. On social media the negativity is rife. But I don’t blame some of our fans for being like that, we’ve seen the team let us down so many times before when we’ve given them our trust. But also when we are doing well the media can’t quite give us all the credit or let it go without 100% praise. Eg. Kane playing well, then he has to leave. Some pundits can’t let us have him playing well, oh no, spurs aren’t allowed that. The best thing everyone can do is turn them off and not listen to them.

But yes, let’s give the players and especially the manager a bit more faith and support. Let’s see if we’ve got that in us over the next month and a half and see where it takes us. The home games are starting to sell out again, the fans need to get behind the side.
Excellent post ?

It’s said over season things even themselves out- for sure we’re getting positive luck at the moment after all the bad and also it’s at the right time as a form is coming good . May it continue.

This is going to sound weird -so bear with me - but, in the first half, when Spurs were under siege, it felt different to me.

I have seen Spurs in similar situations when you just knew that the individual error was coming, and it would lead to a goal conceded. But, even though Villa kept pressuring the goal, and forcing Lloris into a few brilliant saves, it never felt like Spurs were out of control. It always felt, to me, like everyone was covering for everyone else well enough to withstand the pressure.

It was tense watching - but I never felt like the equalizer was imminent.

I felt the exact same. You are not alone.

I like to think those 3CBs are all saying "our captain. Those ****s on Spurs Community have been saying he needs to go. Lol!"

Not too shabby for a team that, according to some on here, needs a total overhaul.
I wouldn't get too excited about our recent run if we have any ambition of challenging City and Pool, yeah he's got a lot more out of this team, but he's had 3 good additions that have made a massive impact and probably at least needs 3 more at a minimum if were going to challenge, squad looks ok for top 4 challenge but not good enough for trophies
