Rose has looked better than Jenas had in my opinion.

Yea this is very far from how we want to start the season, player wise I mean. Dissapointing though, lots of talent on the pitch there still. Doesn't help that the core of this team is pretty weak though.

This is a real pre-season friendly. It's about time someone played us off the park in one of these, we've had it way too easy in recent years.

naughton summed it up at the end. nobody to throw to, just booted the ball in frustration as the whilstle went for HT. This is almost as painful as the barca kids game last year. We lok like we dont know how to pass.

JUST A FRIENDLY THOUGH :) Losing friendlies last year toughened us up for the season and look how it turned out.

Rose has been the best player on the pitch in white, and that's saying something as he's only been on for about 25 minutes. Naughton was alright too, but it's been disappointing from the rest.

While this is just a friendly and the players can't be judged on this.....the system can be. Keane and Defoe......doesn't work. Corluka as a center half.....doesn't work. Huddlestone and Jenas lack something as a pairing. This ain't fucking rocket science, but we're not learning. We've known these things for years

Im not surprised with how the game has been going considering the current players in the current positions.

It just highlights the reason why unless we go with 5 in midfield in the CL next year for both home and away games against decent teams then they are just going to pass around are midfield four.

There is a reason why United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal play with just one main striker in the majority of their games.

I do agree but there is no need to get carried away, as u said square pegs and round holes. This won't happen during the season.
What concerns me is this attitude that we can do whatever in preseason and it doesn't really matter.

Has anyone stopped to consider that preseason might be useful for working out the side we are going to start the season with? Or are we just going to fuck about with all manner of different meaningless sides until the season starts and then try out our best team in the first competitive match?

My common sense tells me thats not the best way to do things.

First time Danny Rose has impressed me. He looks much better in the middle than on the wing, though he did put in great cross.

Same here, first time I've seen him really get involved, and I'm including the Arsenal game in that. He has looked pretty good, maybe he realises that this season is make or break for him at Spurs, 3 years in and having made a big impression with that goal alone last year, if he fades away and ends up out on loan all year he probably won't be back.

Looks like he could be a handy utility player to have in the squad and from the noises he has been making he seems to have a good attitude.

Take the pros off and stick the kids on, we might do something then, the kids seem to have more heart than the seasoned pros, sad really these over paid pre madonna's think they can just play like this and get away with it.

I guess you didn't see us chasing the barca kids around the pitch last year

My common sense tells me thats not the best way to do things.

This is the first game back for the WC players, who have had 3 days training. For this game at least it IS just about getting some sharpness back and getting into the swing of things.

I'd expect a fair few changes too given the players on the bench, so I wouldn't expect much more cohesion in the 2nd half.

I'm fairly sure HR knows a thing or two about pre-season, and I trust that come the last few games he will be looking to play the strongest side available.
