I think we should fo for Hazard or Remy first. I would still be happy with Rossi but he's not my first choice.

This is definitely a big factor. Ideally we'd need to see him play a half season first. Maybe a loan with an option to sign in January would be a good option.

I would worry about him turning into another Owen.

Or another Demba Ba...

In a heart beat any time up until the injury.

If we get him knockedd off it might be worth a gamble.

As a squad alternative when fit he would be a good addition. But priorities should be either tie up Adebayor or find a suitable replacement for him. Then Hazard, or the next best creative player we can add who can give us more creative options.

If we signed Rossi I'm not sure where he'd could play as automatic first choice in our current set up, unless we get a coach like Rodgers in and it's all about the passing and moving.

Soz if this question is a n00b wanker one but does Rossi play well out wide. I've only seen him a couple of times over the last few yrs but when I have he seemed to be playing on the shoulder or slightly deeper and centrally like a (Spanish word should go here)/8 or 10.

If his knee isn't completely knackered and he is effective out wide, the options he would provide along with Bale, VDV, Lennon, and dare to dream Hazard, as the players vying for the wide roles in a 4-3-3 give me a semi.

No, he can inter change positions though.

I would sell all our strikers and not buy Ade and start again. We need two top players from this list. Rossi Llorente Ba Cavani Lavezzi Remy Damiao Gomez. If we could get Rossi on the cheap because of his knee it would be a good start to rebuilding our front line.

I'd quite happily have a striker clear out too. id like us to keep Ade as I think he suits us, and is a next level striker who can score against both the big and little teams.
i think Rossi is a good option but as stated it will be interesting to see how his injury has affected him if at all.
I still like Llorente, i still like Osvaldo, and as a wing/forward option i like Remy. Obviously i'm not silly enough to think we will have all of those players at the start of next season but i think we play better with a strong powerful centre forward who can hold it up well, thus why Ade has worked for us.

Ta muchly. Even better then. A front 3 who interchange throughout games (except Bale, he can never play on the right ever ever ever - about as useful as tits on a fish out there) would cause defences a lot of problems. We can be far too static when attacking at times.

But they're such a massive club and obviously next season will be reclaiming their rightful place at the top of the league.

Ade has done well but a lot like Mido would you trust him to put the effort in once you have given him a long contract?

i know what your saying, i liked Mido as a player too ironically. i think Ade is a big step up though, personally i'd be a lot more confident Ade would play better week in week out, he actually seems happy and settled here.

Really? One injury and he's suddenly not worth it?

Do the necessary checks and get clearance from the medical team.

RVN turned out OK.

Nobody is saying he's not worth it, just that it now carries a risk is all.

He's a very talented player and i'm sure he'll return to top form again soon. But it's possible he could really struggle.

When you see the likes of Pato, Kaka and Torres struggle for so long after 1 serious injury that has kept coming back to haunt them, you have to take it into consideration.

I'm still not sure he fills the role we need filling mind.

Does seem a bit extreme. Gazza did his ligaments and the recovery was far more hit and miss 20 yrs ago (OK so cruciate as opposed to anterior but the point stands). Seemed to muddle along well enough after that injury.

Maybe Rossi has lost 5% of his pace etc or maybe he hasn't. He might be a bit more prone to niggles later on etc but to claim he's damaged goods right now is a little previous for mine.

Hey, maybe we can see how Affely recovers too and get him on a free or summat. :)

Anyhoo, I'd rather, if we are looking for a smaller, nippier forward to go for Soldado. I have a bit of a mancrush on him.

Same thing. You have 2 cruciate ligaments in the centre of your knee ("cruciate" as they cross over - one goes front of the femur to back of the tibia, the other is back of the femur to front of the tibia) the anterior and posterior. The relatively common football injury (which both Gazza and Rossi did) is to rupture the anterior one.

It's an extremely nasty injury but the procedure to repair it is now well established and with the level of care that pro footballers have available he should be physically more or less the same as he was before. Any major problems will be mental - Eduardo is a good example of a player who's had a horrible injury and just not been the same afterwards.

I haven't seen enough of Rossi to form an opinion, but if the club reckons he's worth it then I'll be happy.

Interesting post, Richie.

I did my Medial Collateral 15 yrs ago playing rugby. Hurt like a bitch but the recovery certainly seemed more straightforward than many Cruciate ones, quite rare to need surgery etc for Medial tears. Thay needed to do the then rather new and fancy (on the NHS anyway) arthroscopic surgery malarky to clean up the cartilage a bit but otherwise. Couple of months in a brace and a few weeks with a gorgeous Aussie physio (think his name was Brian :)) and I was pretty much back on my feet.

That was 15 yrs ago, on the NHS and I was a rather enthusiastic but hardly uber-fit amateur player in my teens. Rossi'll have every chance of making a full recovery. Physically anyway.
