Spurs bid yesterday for Janssen but it was rejected. Terms agreed with the striker. Expected to return to AZ with another offer. #thfc

Press Association Sport understands Tottenham have already agreed personal terms with Janssen and are expected to come back with another bid.

Janssen was given permission to spend two days in London earlier this month and visited the club's training ground, meeting manager Mauricio Pochettino and discussing his plans for the future.

If personal terms agreed and difference is really €4m or €5m then this will get done. Half price of Bats, rumored £30k per week wages...it's a no brainer.

Totally agree, Bats guaranteed titles a plenty of CL football at Juve

completely disagree. There has been no sign Carter vickers or Ball can cover Toby. What if he gets injured 6 weeks? Bentaleb has a lot of improving to do to cover for dembele. If we sign those two strikers, it will be a huge risk if Kane was to get injured. We need some experience in our team and leadership. Wanyama is a sure thing. I think we need that for Kanws position too. We can't just fill our team with youth and prospects and expect to challenge city and Utd ect
Yep, you can't win anything with kids

16m sounds waaay to steep imo. Hes a decent player but wont get the time nor the space he has in the dutch league!

Decent as i said but i dont expect him to be the 15 goal off the bench striker we need.

I think the flaw in your logic is that he's not the type of player who needs space to be effective. He's not a striker that has to rely on his pace to open up a huge opportunity. He's not a fast player, much like our Harry, but if he has any sight of goal, no matter how small, he can convert with his natural finishing ability. If anything, he's really suited for the EPL in that aspect. There's not a whole lot of wide open areas in front of goal and for a guy like Janssen who is a natural finisher with good size and strength as well as ability on the ball, he'll do fine.

I'm still sceptical regarding the transition of Eredivise based players to the PL. there has been an extreamly low success rate of late and even big name stars such a Depay have really struggled to show up at all. Granted there could be more then just a adjustment problem and one would hope the Potch/Mitch combo would be well aware of the general track record but that doesn't alleviate all my concerns.

Pace is becoming more essential in today's game, unless you are Van Nistletoy-esque, which VJ is not.

Kane isn't a burner..Giroud, Ighalo, Deeney, Costa are other top 10 goal scorers in PL that aren't the fastest players. Instinct, movement & finishing are equally important and its not like VJ is slow..

Surely we would not even have contacted him or had him over to speak with him and his agent, if we didnt feel he could do a job for us he must have been watched and watched.

How can you be sure? He's 22 years old with plenty of room to improve. Pace is essential in what aspect of today's game?

Not to score goals, that's for sure.

I am stuck in a time warp. You don't think pace is essential? So be it.

The thing is Sanchez, Walcott and Welbeck from one certain team have one thing in common (pace) which then accommodates Giroud. You then have Hazard, Willian, Oscar, and that guy they got from Barca, which then accommodates Costa. Hopefully I have made my point. I am not convinced in Son, but wil give him a season, along with N'Jie, before someone throws their names in to counter my argument.

I think you should look at our team.

Our (for the most part) starting attacking trio: Eriksen, Alli, and Lamela. That trio, who I think you would agree lack a ton of pace, not only helped us be the 2nd highest scoring team in the EPL, but helped the average-paced Kane to the Golden Boot.

Oh, and then there's Man City. The Highest Scoring team in the EPL. Aguero up top has some decent pace (I personally would not classify him as an elite pace kind of guy, but good nonetheless), but De Bruyne, Silva are what make that attack tick (and Toure, too) and those guys don't have the burning pace that you are alluding to as being critical to a quality attack.

Basically, I think you're putting a little too much value on pace.

Poch helped several Southampton and Tottenham players improve their acceleration. Jansen is a hard worker and will take whatever training regime Poch and the fitness staff have for him and put his all into it.

We will soon find out. You cannot turn a snail into Bolt. Of course it is an oxymoron, but you get my point.

Aguero pace is fine, but VJ does not have that.
